The Sports Illustrated, GCA Article and Pictures
« on: July 31, 2002, 11:26:13 PM »
Somewhere on a cloud in Heaven, my Uncle Tony is laughing his ass off.......Tommy Naccarato, July 7, 2002

A great piece Jeff Silverman, I'm sure Orson would agree! I guess it is true that the camera does add on a pound or two. (Ruthlessly stolen from my main script writer....:))

Long live the L.A. Herald Examiner and Alan Malamud.

Thank you tony -
Now I can get some sleep.

How do I get an autographed copy?

Captured the essence pretty well, no?

I can't wait to read it again tomorrow.

Kudos Ran.
thanks

Tony:

Thanks for immortalizing that photo and the whole article for all-time on the GCA website!

The article was great.

Except for the first two photos - Tommy (larger than life!) and
Ran (when's the last time you slept, dude?).

Wonderful!!!! ;)

Jeff Silverman wrote a wonderful article. He captured the essence of the site -- what it has been since the beginning (and hopefully will continue to be in the future). He painted GCA in a very positive light, excellent job. Its unfortunate they screwed up Mike Miler's name.

Ran
What the hell is that old contraption in the lower right hand corner of your photo -- Enigma or MacKenzie's mobil liquoir cabinet?

As for "Tony" how long will it take for the production people for the Sopranos to call? :)

Tommy,

As you know, my company does a lot of work with schools.  I was amazed as I walked through a school this morning and saw how many girls had removed their Justin Timberlake pictures from their locker and replaced it with the cover of this article.  I think you are well on your way to becoming a sex kitten.  ;D

Great article.

And I took full blame then, and retain such now.  My utter ignorance in not trumpeting a course I have never seen remains inexcusable.

Goodness, and I wasn't even misquoted. Sets a new standard for SI journalism. That Jeff Silverman did his homework - spent an hour with me on the phone and left off all the nasty stuff. Congrats Tommy (i.e. Tony).

Hey Brad Miller - I had no idea you had such artistic skill!  You are a man of many talents indeed.  Can I get a deal on a painting of a Cypress Point hole?

 ;)

Great article - thanks for posting it so we could all see it, Tony.

Two hours a day, huh?  Must just be reading.  POST MORE!!!  I said it yesterday, I'll say it again - we miss ya, Emperor!

Don't go too nuts, shivas - he's on the cover of the golfplus section.  Here's hoping for Tony's sake he never makes the cover of the mag proper - jinx, ya know....

Paul,

In defense of my ugliness, it is hard when a photographer with a camera whose lense is the size of a basketball is in one's office with a spot light telling you to "act natural." My expression vaguely reminds my wife of the time that my bare feet found a two day old banana peel left underneath my desk by my three year old daughter  :P

Given that he took over 300 pictures and apparently that was the best one   :'( , my potential career as a movie star has thus ended, tragically. Like Pinehurst No.2, I suppose some physical masterpieces are hard to capture on film.  ;D

Cheers

Ran, Tommy, Brad Miller, Tom Paul, Mike and Brad K. represented our site well. Silverman wrote a great article here! I remember all the threads he mentioned and know all the posters interviewed. Fazio was well presented.  ::) He also received quotes from Coore, Silva and others.
The 30,000 some odd hits yesterday will soon multiply.
Congratulations Ran!

Ran,
At least you can't win the dumb blonde award, like Jeff Mingay, whose swing looks a little TOO good in some of those CBH pictures. ;)

Frankly, I was expecting the worst.

Happily, I was wrong.  A very good piece that emphasized the substance of our discussions over the nuttiness of some of us participants.

Great job.  I hope it results in many new, thinking contributors.

Was it just me, or did Fazio sound a little defensive?  "...I don't read that suff."  Don't tell anyone, but I think he DOES read this stuff.

Mike Sweeney faxed me the article.

Nice going guys - glad to be a part of it

Hope the PR and increased hits turn into "new blood" without too many anus types to ruin it for the legit participants.

Oh my god! It's only been a day and my girlfriend Sheryl won't stop. She keeps going on and on about Tommy this and Tommy that. And other stuff like 'Tommy loves me'.

This notariety is getting out of control.  :D

Perhaps IMG will be interested? ::)

P.S. Sheryl also had the nerve to say Gib wasn't nuts. :-*

Ran, while trying to glean information from the fine details of this splendid article, I have to ask:  What is the scene on your mouse pad?  And, what is with the antique wooden box on the desk?  Is that some sort of old time stock market portable ticker, or an old decoding machine from previous duties in the CIA or OAS?  8)

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Paul,

Here's my stab at the gang:

JonhV?, Eric Shortz squatting, ?, ?, Ran, Cirba?, ? squatting, Tommy, Brad M sitting?, ?.  None of the ones pictured look like the two Geoffs and Lynn, I'm guessing they're off to the right.

Being Tommy's cousin I can say in all honesty, I knew him before he was a national golf celebrity. I just hope he remembers the people who supported him before he became a cover boy for S.I. Remember Tom - the toes you step on today may belong to the asses you will have to kiss tomorrow. Seriously Cous, way to go, that is awesome!!!
