I could always take solace in teaching caddies how to spear frogs.

Ciao

Do you prefer a tri-prong spearhead mounted on a regulation fiberglass flagstick, or a quad-prong spearhead on a tournament (thicker) flagstick?

Tastes like chicken,

Flagstick?

Froglegs, Dan...FROGLEGS!!!!! (The froglegs taste like chicken, not flagsticks taste like froglegs...oh, never mind!)

My cousin and I would go out on the golf course ponds frog giggin' until 1 a.m., then get some sleep before getting up at 5 a.m. to cook some eggs 'n legs for breakfast.....mmmm, mmm! And then there was the time not one, but two bass jumped in the boat while giggin'...we should have had the lid to the beer cooler open.....am I O/T yet?.....

Wayne & Gib,

I just arrived home and logged on GCA.com.

I know both of you so I feel comfortable saying this.

Why don't you take a step back, and START ALL OVER AGAIN.
You're off on the wrong foot with each other.
And sometimes the best remedy for a bad start is a RE-start.
You're both good guys who love golf and GCA and you're both good company.

So, please, take it on my advice, that given the opportunity to meet under different circumstances, you'd hit it off well.

I'd like to see you shake hands and start over.

That's MY AGENDA for today.

If you were my guests for golf, I"m sure that you'd enjoy each other's company.

Wayne,

I"m glad to hear that.

While Gib lives on the left coast, I'd be happy to have the both of you as my guest when you're in New York or Florida.

Let me know if your plans call for either of you to visit Florida this winter.

I guarantee you that after I break both of your chops, that you'll have a good time with each other .... and me.

Now, if we can just get a weekend furlough for TEPaul, we'll have a terrific foursome.

Rules:

1.  NEVER say anything on GCA that you wouldn't say to that person's face, in the presence of witnesses.
2.  IM ONLY on very personal matters, not petty things like GCA
3.  Never reveal the contents of somebody else's IMs, without their permission, regardles of the provocation

Agenda:

Learn and teach and learn and teach and learn, and occasionally actually DO something.......

Observation:

People on the internet are VERY different than what they are in real life.  Some are "better" some "worse."  Including me and you.  Deal with it.

John

Tommy called me after my little post and your reply and told me about your current health problem.  I will not repeat it to anyone else.

I think/hope you should be fine and you are certainly going to an absolutely first rate place for evaluation.  While not my primary area of expertise, I have some experience and contacts for help if you should need it and actually done some research in the area

see - http://cancerres.aacrjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/64/11/3780

If you need/want me to contact anyone to make sure you are taking the best options please don't hesitate to let me know.  I would be happy to try to put you in contact with an expert for help if possible. Its probably not necessary as the Mayo Clinic is cutting edge but the offer is there.

You might also want to look at Pat Mucci's BLOG

http://www.colo-rectal-cancer.blogspot.com/

which he just started a short time ago and will add to as he can.  Pat was really inspirational in his fight which was from advanced colon cancer that required (he choose this option after consultation) the most agressive treatment. He is a source of inspiration (to me anyway) in seeing his fortitude and fighting attitude.  Don't neglect to powers of a good attitude in fighting cancer.

I wish you well and trust we will be posting back and forth as usual for many many years to come.

Best regards
Geoffrey

JakaB,

Geoffrey was very kind to me during my battle with cancer, and in reading his note I was struck by the similarity of his concern.

I welcomed Geoffrey's visits, his advice, his referals and his caring attitude.  That's something that shouldn't go unappreciated.

With respect to my blog, I've put it on hold.

Instead, I'm writing a book for patients diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer, and their families.

I'm hoping that it will serve as a guiding light, a helpful roadmap to assist them in their journey and fight against cancer.

Hopefully, whatever medical issues you're dealing with will be favorably resolved.

One of the things that I learned from my illness was how people surprise you.

Some, whom you hold in high regard, disappoint you, while others, whom you never suspected, rise up and are wonderful supporters and beacons of refreshing light.

Geoffrey was one of those wonderful individuals who came to my aid and I will always be grateful for his kind gestures.

You shouldn't take them lightly, dismiss or disparage them.

Patrick,

You and many others had cancer, I did not.  The very fact that Noel and Geoffrey brought this issue up yesterday in an attempt to get me to thank him for a electronic note is disgusting and unfair to the millions of people who suffer from this disease every day.

Geoffrey hated me until he thought my demise could rise his stock.  It is like the drunk driver who demands a lesser sentence because he performed CPR to save his victim.  I will not forgive Geoffrey for years of hate based on one three minute note just because it pertained to his industry.  He is the one who told many people about his "good deed" and I am sorry it did not reap his intended rewards.

If a thread ever needed to be deleted it is this...Now I am getting people offering to pray for me when God has better things to do than worry about an over stuffed Irishman who has already been given more than any man deserves.  I would just as soon try to keep a low profile and sneek into heaven on some kind of last second redemption.

BTW, when you were ill, I remember Dr. Childs was kind enough to offer you nice words and doctor recommendations in an IM.. You never responded which is fine, but he was able to put aside whatever issues you guys had from a online forum.

If this puts it to bed...here goes.  Thank you Geoffrey for saving my life.  It took courage for you to write that note to me given our differences.  I can only pray that I can find that same courage in my life.  You are an inspiration.

Just as only Nixon could go to China, only Pat Mucci could fully reconcile Gib and Wayne.   ;D ;D

I'm just wondering how Sean and I got aced out of the Reconciliation Golf Classic though.  Darn, all that hard work...  ;)

Pat, now that you've solved this one, this latest round of posts from John K. proves you have a tougher challenge:  Kavanaugh and Childs.  Just how great ARE your peacemaking skills?

This might be a tougher nut.

BTW, oddly unimportant game this weekend, huh?  Oh, it means something to you and me for sure... but not like most years.  It's a win-win situation for ND - no one expects anything out of them.  And USC is so injury riddled and dare I say it not as great as we all thought, that of course ND can win this game.  It's just strange how little it matters this year...

Why does everyone have to get along?  There are people on this board that I will simply never like.  Get over it.  Sometimes honesty is just plain ugly.

I'm gonna be on Bourbon Street this evening if anyone wants to reconcile...There will be plenty of reconciling going on.

Obviously not everyone has to get along.  I just like giving Mucci a challenge.  Thanks for making that even tougher!

Just bizarre, John.

Perhaps the existence of Geoff's IM to you and your non-response shouldn't have been revealed, but once you cast aspersions on his motives - and, incidentally, continue to do so - I think Geoff has more than every right to reveal said IM, as he did.

I guess these actions should all go under the notion that golf - and apparently all golf related activities - doesn't build character, it reveals it.

Nice post, Rich, I hope it doesn't frighten you that I agree with pretty much all of it.

Nice job mischaracterizing yet again.

I asked plenty of questions in the other thread that had nothing to do with you. It's all there in black and white if you'd care to read it, rather than your delusions.

Neither the world nor this site revolve around you, contrary to your fantasies.

Earlier this week a friend told me he was going to National Golf Links to play golf...If I had told him that Shinnecock was nearby and he should play there would I warrant a thank you note.  Could I then tell all my friends how I improved his trip with my knowledge?  Of course not.

Lefty knew I was going to Mayo Clinic...His advice to me was as useless as the above.

Huckster,

Here is the note I sent to Mucci just before reading your post. "Great minds think alike . . . . or fools rarely differ."   ;)

Patrick,

As for your efforts, have you ever considered a 2nd career as a diplomat? To broker détente with Wayne Morrison is an accomplishment of Kissinger-esque magnitude.

Now, you can try Barny and Childs . . . . . if successful, I suggest you get on the next flight to Tel Aviv and see what you can do about Israel and the Palestinians.

If you did mention to your friend that Shinnecock was next door, do you think he would have questioned your motives?

I just don't understand your bleak view of your fellow posters. It doesn't jibe with my experiences at all.

As for the game tomorrow: We are down to two Song Girls and the University Provost playing on the offensive line.

Our defense is so far down the depth chart that our best cover man is the one who gave up the winning TD against Stanford.

We are playing under the Golden Dome, before a hostile crowd out for blood. I've never felt so hopeless . . . . . . ND is better than Stanford.

It will be a fight . . . . but you'll read no false bravado from me this year.

Great stuff Gib.    And re the game tomorrow, well... while I concur with your assessments and feel almost as hopeless, there is one thing that gives me hope:  ND is really, really bad this year.  There offense is worse than ours.

6-2 USC.  They get a safety.

Obviously no false bravado this season from me, either.
