Gates open at 1pm on Sunday the 16th.  Parking is usually in the lot at the entrance to E. Atlantic Avenue.

You'll love it.

No cameras, but you have essentially unfettered access to the golf course as long as you give the matches their due space.

It's a lot of fun...

The Boy Scouts get a few bucks for parking at Clementon Park.  Remember - when you drive up there for the Crump Cup, look for Clementon Park, not PV.

And, no - PV swag is not available for sale during the event.

For those of you who are interested, a GCA'er in the Wilmington area has offered to host the group at his club on Friday, September 28th or Friday, Oct 5th and the cost would be $75 including lunch. Please IM me for details.

We can do Saturday, September 28 at the highly regarded Glen Mills GC(Bobby Weed) for the weekend rate of $105(including the $10 surcharge for advance reservation) followed by a trip to Tony Luke's for a discussion of the events of the day.

On Friday, September 28, we can do a highly regarded course recently renovated by a golfclubatlas.com member at a private club in Wilmington, DE for $75 including lunch.

Guests are permitted at both events.

I need firm commitments before September 18.

Thanks.

There will be a mystery guest at the Friday, September 28 outing at the highly regarded private club in Wilmington.  Here's a clue:

He is NOT the Herbert Warren Wind of golf bloggers.

Note that all the profits from the Glen Mills golf course go to fund scholarships for graduates of the school.  Joe Logan of the Inky writes about this in today's paper:

There is a possible problem with the Friday, September 28 event at the private club in Wilmington in that payment must be made in advance and is not refundable if there is inclement weather. Please advise if this is significant to change your plans. If so, I can change this event, probably to the historic and significant Cobbs Creek.

There has been an underwhelming response for the Saturday, September 29 event at Glen Mills, possibly because of the $105 green fee. I am working on an alternative, a less expensive course of architectural interest.

Steve,

Paying up front for Friday is not a problem.   Just send me a note letting me know where to send it.

As far as Saturday, I'm still in favor of Cobbs, but I'll try to get wherever you all decide.

Friday September 28 @ McCall Field GC, Upper Darby

www.mccallgolf.com

We have space for 16 golfers between 11am and noon. The cost is $40 to walk. Since this is a short course, I don't anticipate any non-walkers. There are carts available if someone really needs one.

Tony Luke's for a gourmet dinner.

So far, I have:

Mike Cirba
Jay Flemma?
Jerry Kluger and guest
Powell Arms
Joe Bausch
Doug Braunsdorf
Steve Shaffer and guest

Saturday, September 29 @ Cobbs Creek

I will make tee times for those who are interested.

Please confirm asap.

(I'm the gopher arranging the details for the round at McCall).

Slight modification for the round at McCall:  the pro there says he'd like us to start at 10:30 AM.  I also believe the rate will be 40 bucks if you ride (limited number of carts there, however), and much less if you walk ($23).  I'll try to reconfirm the rates I was given in an e-mail to make sure it wasn't a typo.  I know the regular guest rates there are much higher.

Oh well...I guess if Powell is going I'll be there, as well.   ::) ;) ;D

At least we're playing somewhere that those HUGE-headed, high-tech drivers won't have any advantage over us classic-clubbed Luddites.   ;D

I hope these might inspire some of the Philly GCAers on the fence about playing McCall to join us on that Friday at 10:30 AM!  It is such a fascinating layout.

Thanks!

Mike, the pro there is sort of expecting us to start teeing off around 10:30, so showing say by 10:15 would be okay.
