Bobby Jones' 1930 US Am @ Merion shots via aerial

Searching the USGA archives is very cool. If you haven't done so yet and have time to...do it!

Thought this was particularly interesting:
Individual aerials of Merion's 18 holes and Booby Jones' shots (as witnesses by spectators) plotted on them during his first two rounds of medal play in 1930.

need to scroll to page 17

I would have posted the actual pictures but did couldn't figure out how to.

Particularly interesting is how he changed play from Round 1 to Round 2... taking more aggressive lines in the 2nd round on the 15th, for example.

Also how far left he played 11 both days - I presume for on optimum angle.

Let's not delve into just how far he hit it up the 10th hole from the tee....

Great great find.

Kyle,

Also, how far hit his his drive on #8.

As for #10 on day two he crushed his tee shot and was, seemingly, in an ideal spot only to get down in 4 from there for a bogey.  From my one experience there, shorter and further right was a perfect angle and a full short iron in... which I blocked out into a bunker.

That is pretty far left on #11.  Is the creek in play over there?
