I did all the above on a couple of projects...originally based on stormwater management needs, but as I got into it I saw the benefits for golf (hazards), the environment, (more wildlife habitata and biodiversity (sounds good on a permit letter too
) and for the overall permitting review process. The areas were designed to handle stormwater from the course as needed, but also knowing that at times, these areas could go dry and that would be fine as well.
Can't say that I have ever 'drained' a seasonal wetland before..they simply drain on their own as nature dictates. In the end, they have provided great habitat as planned and an interesting visual hazard too and only 1 year did they go dry. and only for a short 2 month period.
