Calling All Photographers - What is your best picture?
« on: July 03, 2007, 06:37:25 PM »
Post your favorite photograph that you have taken and explain why the photo is important to you. I'll start with mine below:

This is the 14th hole at Yarrow in Augusta, MI. Yarrow is a Ray Hearn design that was routed after a tornado ripped the property to shreds in 2001. This short, downhill, double fairway, par-4 is my favorite hole that I have ever played because of the way that it looks just before sun sets - when this photo was taken.

The most striking feature here is obviously the bright red flag flying against the shadow filled backdrop. Enjoy!

Okay, I'll bite...

Below is a photo I took while at the Monday practice round of the Masters while following Henrik Stenson on a still morning, no wind to speak of, while he played his approach shot on my favorite hole in all of golf, the beautiful 13th at Augusta National.

I have a poster size print of this hanging on my living room wall.

It was a magical morning, one I'll never forget.

six green. Short par four but the green is needs a precise shot.

Seven, 190 yard par three.

View from the deck.  Eat some pork tenderloin and watch the deer and geese.

Musgrove Mill may be my most favorite place to go.  It is in the middle of nowhere and is a superb course.  It is in my personal favorite top ten.  The architecture is not like anything I have ever played.  It is not evryones's cup of tea but members love it even when it beats you up.I am in the process of doing a home course article on it.

I'm no sure I have a single favorite photo that I've taken.  I've been enjoying these two tonight as I go through my collection from last week's trip.

Pacific Dunes 13 from the 14th green.  The shadows were in just the right places to bring out the contours of the 13th fairway.

Pacific Dunes 6 green looking back on the fairway as the early morning fog was passing through.

Daryl,

That is an awesome photo, anyone who has seen my recent offerings knows it has nothing on that.  Well done.  My screen saver ATM is from the Sand Hills review.  Maybe one day I can take something like that.

I've posted this photo several times before.  It remains my favorite.  This is Cascades #17 at dusk with a storm rolling in:

From our trip across the pond in '05.  Probably does not require any identification for this group.
Can't get back to RDGC soon enough

Most every one of those photos are coupled with some truly stunning "light" situations. Well done all.

#7 Shinnecock, one of my all-time favorite holes, but I'm not even sure that it is the best par3 at Shinnecock. Actually I'm pretty sure that it isn't ;D ;)

Neil Regan was kind enough to add a little photoshop-love to this picture . . .

Here's a question for you on that last photo.

Should that "grove" of about 50 pine trees on the right of that photo go or stay? I actually asked that question last time out there.

And let me ask something else.

How cool are those other two trees prominently visible in that photograph?

I can't think of any good reason for them to be there . . .
I"ve only played the course once, but my gut says the fewer trees the better, especially at a course like Shinnecock. But please leave the tree behind the 7th green, it is just so cool looking!!! A cool looking single tree is a lot easier for me to like than a big grouping of very pedestrian looking trees . . .

Tom, my response must have come just as you were revising your initial post . . . I really do love those "lone" trees

Artistically, the shadows of Green Hills #1 turn me on.

Emotionally, a nice walk up to one's ball on Spy #4 turns me on....

You'd make a fine little helper. What's your name?

Is it just me or why can I only see about a quarter of the photos that have been posted??  I can only see Randy, Matt's and Mike's photos thus far.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
