Has anyone played the new course in the Highlands of Scotland, Aviemore?  I'm looking for reviews....

Mitch -

Are you asking about Spey Valley? I have talked to a couple of people who have played it. They described it as an American-style course, fairly wide open w/large greens & bunkers. The green fees are almost double what you might pay at Boat of Garten or Grantown-on-Spey.

Stuart Morrison, one of the assistant pros at Dornoch, moved down there 3-6 months ago to be the head pro. The fellow who was head greenskeeper at Dornoch moved down there a couple of years ago to be head greenskeeper there.

The scenery should be stunning in mid-late August, when the heather is in bloom.

Has anyone from your area been over to play Aviemore yet? Do you have any feedback on the course?

Unfortunately I know no one that has played it .

Reviews seem to be scarse .

I will be in Dornoch Aug. 17 to Sept. 8. If you are around and interested in meeting me at Spey Valley one day to play there and see the course 1st hand, send me an IM. It seems like some of us ought to make the effort to play the course. ;)

Thanks,

DT

The way my work is at the moment , I dont know what I am doing tomorrow .

I did enquire the other day about prices for Spey Valley .

I thought the Sunday Special is a bit mean , not allowing 2 rounds on the "championship course" .

I didnt even know they had a 9 holer ?

Special offers based on 1 night 2 rounds on double occupancy:

Monday to Thursday - £149

Friday and Saturday - £169

Sunday Special - £109 (1 round Champiosnhip, 1 round 9 hole course)
