Winter Golf in the East
« on: February 18, 2007, 09:31:44 PM »
What is currently the farthest north someone can play golf right now.  What courses are open?? Our travel plans to Florida were cancelled due to a faulty plane, a bankrupt Delta Airlines, and labor union contracts.  Therefore, we are looking for places north of Florida to drive to and play with nice weather later this week.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some courses down at the Connecticut shore (Shennecossett and *shhh* Fenwick) are typically open as long as there's no snow on the ground.  I have played courses there in every winter month--I have played golf in Connecticut in every month of the year.

I'd head right up to Myrtle Beach/Charleston and play there.. 60's all week.. Plenty to choose from and I think it's still their low season

What about Southern Virginia, like Richmond or Williamsburg.  Are they under a lot of snow right now??

There is no snow on the ground in Richmond right now but it's been rather cold.  We're supposed to warm up later this week and have a couple of days approaching 60 degrees.  If you're looking for a golf trip though, I'd venture a little further south or wait about a month to come to Virginia.
