Tom Doak makes it into our top ten..
« on: January 12, 2007, 03:16:57 PM »
I am happy and proud for the site that Tom Doak has entered the rarified air of our top ten poster list as itemized below.  I think it says alot for the integrity of the discussion that a busy architect of some status has taken the time to post on so many different topics.  Now if I can just figure out who this MikeC guy is who seems to be ashamed of his own opinions and no longer posts under his own name.  Just for giggles...If you were going to post under a fake name what would you choose that might indicate your bias towards architecture.

The List with number of posts at this time:

TEPaul   24939
Patrick_Mucci   15214
Shivas Schmidt   8773
MikeC   8105
Rich Goodale   7593
Matt_Ward   7089
Tommy Naccarato   6987
Scott_Burroughs   6754
RJ_Daley   5717

Tom Paul looks like Wayne Gretzky at the top of that list... way ahead of Gordie Howe there, in second place!

John,
Funny you should bring that up. I had just IM'ed Mike to correct that "error." That is unless he married Sandra C and has chosen to take her name?

No Dave, you cannot change your name to Shivas.

The saddest words... what might have been....

But perhaps you actually did me a favor, JK.  I had well over 13,000 posts when you deleted me the first time.  Sans your efforts I believe I'd be at about 17,000, which is truly not a good thing to advertise.  You also paved the way (pun intended) for Doak to be in the top 10, which is cool.

In any case the reality is Tom Paul does have a lead, but it's not truly Gretkyan.

Huck,

I thought MacWood leaving vaulted Doak into the top ten.  I forgot about your accident.

I would like to know if anyone has ever been "injured" by posting under their real names on this site.

JK:

Depends on how you look at it, I guess.  Had you not
created this "accident" then regardless of MacWood, I'd still be in there, thus no Doak.  But yes, more immediately, MacWood's departure made room for Doak.

And I'd like to know the answer to that as well... thought never occurred to me to use an alias... but then again I am a peon in the great scheme of life.

3 things allowed Doak to hit the top 10, MacWood leaving (I didn't even know that, shows how little I'm around now), and 2 guys' post totals being reset that were former Top 5 guys:  Huckaby and Clayman.

Scott - good call - Adam would be up there as well.

Interesting that top high volume posters quit of their own accord... while I certainly did not.

One has returned... I have zero doubt that some day MacWood will as well.

I would be very surprised if Tom returns.  I have quit a couple of times myself and did not have the strength to stay away.  I'd like to see MacWood contribute opinion pieces and continue to do research.  I don't think he needs the feedback to make his various quests worthwhile.

We shall see. although I do agree Tom needs none of the "feedback" he gets here, especially since it seems to be 95% negative.   ;)  I have no dog in the research and historical battles, that's for sure... But well... the more prolific posters always do have a way of finding their way back here.

ps - I did take typing in high school... it was required!

JK,
If you go to the members section it lists the top 30, so you can see who is on deck....

I hope no one under 30 moves too high on that list.

Huckster - it isn't a race...  :)

cheers

I went to St. laurence in Burbank Huck...just outside the Chicago boundaries about 15 minutes south of Midway airport

one time I was sitting behind one of the football stars in class....the teacher was really cool, goofed around with us, treated us more like than boys, etc.....

anyway,I forget what we were talking about but football boy decides to speak up and says the N word for some unknown reason

teacher promptly walked up to him and slapped him as hard as he could right across the face...and deservedly so

Thank you...I had never used that feature.  I am shocked that redanman doesn't have more posts.

I'll wait to hear that story in person.
If it isn't too funny no big deal, it has already made me laugh today... sorry.

Cheers

Mike,

Haven't we all at one time or another wanted to shut Huck the hell up.  One day I figured out how to do it and couldn't help myself.  I am sorry for my weakness but not my actions.

Redanman has come and gone several times, I think.

And Mike, the humor of the story depends on one's point of view.  JK finds it hilarious... I must say I was less than amused when it happened, but as time goes on I see the humor more and more.

But that's never going to stop me from extracting my pound of flesh...
