Much more to come, but the dates are now official:

The first weekend in October, which I believe is October 5-7.

Let the wailing and gnashing of teeth commence!  ;D

Wailing material conflicting that weekend aroud the South:

UGa@Tenn
UF@LSU
VT@Clemson

Other info for Eatonton, GA on that weekend:

avg high 80, avg low: 52.  sunset: 7:13 pm
We most likely won't see much of Tiger Bernhardt.  ;)

Before too long my partner in crime, Michael Whitaker, will post a website where those who sign up will be listed.  There are still quite a few administrative details to be resolved, which may require a road trip to Athens for "consultations" with Mike Young and his cohort.

In the meantime, reserve the dates of October 5-7.

Given the varied lodging options in the area, we should be able to accommodate a pretty large group.  ;D

Michael - you obviously don't know our Tiger.

I suppose he could miss the Vandy or Ole Miss game... but
even that would be a HUGE effort for him....

But the defending national champs coming to
Baton Rouge?

Methinks it would take playing Pine Valley with Eva Longoria
as caddie and masseuse to get him to miss that.

Bill Gayne:  I concur Pac10 hoops is very tough this year.  But regarding Stanford, yes they are tough as well... but I'd like to point you to one result from their season:

December 16:  Santa Clara 62, Stanford 46.  At Stanford.

 ;D

ps to Bill M - I'm with you re events in Pasadena on 10/6... who the hell cares about two USC wannabes fondling each other?

Perfect dates. We'll miss Tiger, again, for the fourth time.

But early October is the perfect time for this event, football be damned.

Go Dawgs!

Bill -

I like the dates. Count me in. The more important football games the better that weekend. It will keep people off the courses. ;)

Bill M.:  go bears indeed.  They will be tough once again.  Methinks November 10 is when you are going to want to come to California.

While I'd like to see it like last year, the first week of Nov., (the weather and color peaks here in WI that first week of Oct. ad the golf is best then) I'm in as long as McConkey picks me up at the airport...  ::) >:(
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

As I figured as well - see my posts on page 1 - but also did I get right the type of golf-related thing that MIGHT get you to miss that game?

Is there going to be a Dixie Cup 2008?

Also are there any more GCA tourney/get-togethers besides the KP (Cali/West Coast), DC (SouthEast) and Buda(Across the Pond)???

Have any others been tried and or proposed say in the Mid-West???

Just a curious newbie.

Patrick, the Dixie Cup I attended was fantastic.  We drove from Philly to Pawleys Island, SC.

I'm happy to report that a number of Cheeseheads from Wisconsin attended.   We aways need more northerners - come on down this year!

The 2008 Dixie Cup announcement will be out soon.  I don't want to spoil their thunder, John "Sarge" Cullum and Mike Whitaker are organizing this year's classic and I think plans are ready for disclosure.

Drum roll............................envelope please!  ;D
