Got this from Tuco Ramriez.. A great pic of the Himalayas at St. Enodoc..Note the scale of the guy in the bunker.

One of the "twenty most famous hazards" in the world - according to Fine and Richardson  ;D  The Himalayas bunker is talked about in our book and we include photos as well as a detailed sketch with dimensions, etc.  It is 70 feet to the top of the hill that the bunker sits in.

You beat me to the punch.  Eerily reminiscent of the bunker on #4 at Sand Hills, isn't it?  Any chance that's where C&C got their inspiration?

Jim,
If you look through our book, you will see that each of the 20 famous hazards are detailed with dimensions.  All these dimensions came from our own measurements and/or a combination of those from the course officials/grounds keepers, etc.  Forrest can chime in but if I remember correctly, the measurements for St. Enodoc's bunker came from the club.  

I should add the we felt this information would be valuable for people who want to really put into perspective the size and scope of these famous hazards.  We were pretty proud of this section of the book.

Love Golf Design is currently building a green that if one misses by 5 yds to the right they enter a 50 acre+ bunker that drops 60' immediately and rolls about 100 yds away....all to be in play.
It makes St Enodoc's seem smaller than a pot and truly has to be seen to be believed. [might make Marks and Forrests Largest Sand Hazard in their second edition].
