I've said it before and I'll say it again - in the logo wars that inevitably occur at GCA gatherings, Mr. Huntley always wins... that R&A logo on the shirt or sweater simply cannot be topped... ESPECIALLY when combined with the John Deere hat.

Back in the day, we were thinking of Goshenhoppen GC which was the original name of Bally, PA the town where the land was located. I am sure we could have found some cute German theme for tee markers to piss off Jaka. :D See:

Paul - my Dad would love the comparison to Bernard Darwin... my Dad being some sort of writer himself.

He (my Dad) is exceedingly fun to play this game with, once you know him anyway.  Call him the anti-Hogan... there is no middle ground, only Everest peaks and Death Valleys.  Neither last for very long at all after the shot...

OK, sorry for the diversion (again!).  But I do like my new logo.

blue grey club located in florida.
1) minimalist design
2) walking only with caddies
3) men only club
4) huge shower heads
5) cathedral ceillings, metal lockers and a bar in the locker room with big overstuffed leather chairs
6) outdoor patio for gazing
7) dining room overlooking first tee
8) grill room/card room/bar overlooking 18th green
9) coral rock clubhouse with a tin roof
10)simple and understated logo. favorite logos: seminole, burning tree, friar's head, garden city, secession, myopia, adios, indian creek.

Long Island National and Hilton Head National are tied for the lead in the clubhouse for me. Public and National? I am just not getting it.

Paul,

If I got my hands on a zillion dollars, the golf course would pretty much be "Pocket Change" and the logo would be few coins flling into a coin tray.  Of course all club event trophies would be change trays and the club song would involve some sort of change jingling in the pocket by member, just like grandpa used to do. ;)

Forgot the smiley but as your financial advisor (taking only 2% on your zillion dollars), your return on such an investment might not be the best for your portfolio ...

Ps:  For those in the boating circles, the saying that the 2 happiest days of a boat owners life is the day he buys the boat and the day he sells the boat.  Go to any marina and you will most likely see a boat named "Never Again II" ...

Mike - first of all, since I have a  zillion you only get 1% ;)

and I would LOVE to build my own course...really, if I ever won a big lottery I would build one.....how cool it would be to have the final say on the logo, the course, the clubhouse, etc. etc......

What about "The Mulligan Club."

You would have a bucket of "breakfast" balls on the first tee and the logo... Well, the logo would be crossed clubs with not one, but two, balls ;) Can you tell that the flu season has hit AZ hard ;D

The Bareass Club, set amongst the towering pines of the Colorado Mountains...

Logo would be a silouhette of my sexy ass peaking out through a pair of Tommy Bahamas ala The KP this past summer in Palm Desert ;D

Leary National or International.

Logo would be a guy making the L sign with his hand on his forehead.

or

Belmont Hill Club, an homage to where I went to high school, which is near and dear to me.  Symbol would be a sextant, just like the schools logo.

mine:  The Jolly Dog Club - I love dogs and so do my wife and girls.....Bernard Darwin also wrote an essay by this name about one of his dogs

logo: a retriever-type with it's tail up and ears flapping and a club in its mouth , with a collar with JLA on it (those are the initials of my daughters)



The name of the Club would be "100 Good Guys" and only my best 100 friends could be members ;)
