I played the Ross course yesterday and thought it was outstanding. Lot's of room off the tee but with plenty to think about, outstanding green complexes, tough bunkers, nice routing, interesting topography but otherwise just so-so
. The overall look is pretty unusual as you'd expect about 10X the trees -- sort of looks like old photos of Augusta.
The only other Ross I've played was Pine Needles and that was several years ago so any comparison would be tough but the green complexes seemed similar though more extreme at French Lick.
Not sure if this video has been brought up on any of the other threads but it goes through the history and restoration of the course (along with the cart paths).
http://frenchlick.com/resoration/golf_video.aspOT- The resort itself is still having some opening issues but it's pretty amazing -- think of a remodeled Shining and a very nice casino as well. Once all 3 courses are open it will be on the short list for a golf getaway, 36 holes a day on a Ross or Dye and $2/$4 No-limit at night. Not sure where else you can do that.
