Clubhouse architects
« on: October 24, 2006, 11:01:52 PM »
I just finished reading a book about Julia Morgan, the architect of Hearst Castle as well as many other important buildings and came across reading that she had designed the original clubhouse for Claremont CC (Livermore, CA) but sadly burned down in 1920. It got me thinking about if other noteworthy building architects have done clubhouses in the past. I know The Dragon's  clubhouse in Nakoma  (North of Lake Tahoe) was done by Frank Lloyd Wright, but have there been others? (Incidently, the original blueprints for Nakoma were intended for a hotel project in the midwest that never came to pass and the blueprints were used for the clubouse there, so technically, it wasn't a clubhouse design.)

Robert A. M. Stern, the noted NY architect and Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, has done the Anglebrook GC clubhouse in NY and is the architect of record for the new clubhouse to be built at The Ocean Course at Kiawah. He also did the Kiawah Island Beach Club.

The architect who did Blackrock and Estancia is terriffic, don't know his name.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta
