After playing 4 rounds in the St. Andrews area, we made our way up the A9 to Dornoch, for rounds at Royal Dornoch, Brora and Nairn.

Hope you have enjoyed the pictures.  It was my first trip, and a great trip it was.  Can't wait to go back.  I was greatly inspired to make this trip by my lurking and chatting here at GCA.  In addition, many of the GCA'ers gave me a lot of good info prior to the trip.  Met John Gunning and David Tepper while on the trip, which certainly added a GCA flavor.

Just out of curiosity, would this technique be legal in a tournament (my hunch is not, but I'd be curious)?

Great stuff again, Mickey.  The photo captioned the 10th at Dornoch is actually of #13.

I'm sure that stroke is legal.  Nothing in the rules about split grips, and I've played it before in tournaments!

I am sure too. If he faced the hole a bit more he'd look like Snead's sidesaddle stroke.
Can't believe the ball stopped there--I'd have been afraid to ground my putter behind the ball.

Your picture has to be about the same time as mine.  We played there on August 31.

RE:  ball hanging on the edge of the bunker.  We were all surprised too that the ball had not rolled back in.  Mike was very ginger in his set up to that shot.

I can't define why, but the bunker design at Royal Dornoch is still my favorite style.

"Unnatural," I suppose, but there's just something about those crisp edges and the depth of them that stirs me.
