Yes but.....

there is also the remnants of the golf course there too......I have heard

As much as it would be a wonderful thing for golf, ain't gonna happen.  It was shot down by the membership as the yachtsmen outnumber the golfers by a significant margin.  Given that a few homes would have to be torn down, it is a dead horse.

Even still, the nine holes that remain of the 18 built and the 36 planned are great fun. Gibson Island is a real hidden gem in the middle of the Chesapeake.

the "other nine" conversation seems to bubble up to the surface every decade or so....it'll never happen as Gibson Island is not about the golf, so much as it's about sailing, fishing, etc.

that being said, it is very cool to see the drawings of the entire course in the pro shop and imagine waht could have been....if i recall correctly, the finishing holes were to play right along the shores of the Bay and finish right where the pool/clubhouse facilities are presently situated.
