Agreed, but it is not clear the R&A has either the interest or resources.

The other twist to this is that it is amazing what you can do with a   large format high resolution scanner.

I seriously hope that Sean can make to to Sharp...I will not be there for another month or so. I really do believe that a handfil of GCA-ers in SF could help preserve some great plans. None are Mackenzie originals, but there is a 1930s old linen blueprint of the entire course and its "sophisticated" irrigation system — for the era. It is just about toast...falling apart and crumbling. I have a digital image of it taken with my camera, but it really needs to be rolled in archival paper and safely stored...not in the temporary trailer behind the file cabinet next to the Mr. Coffee and below a leaky window!
