JESII, Jim Sullivan Jr of Huntingdon Valley G.C. won the two day 36 hole Pennsylvania State Mid-Am Championship today at Gil Hanse's Applebrook GC.

He was tied for the lead with a 69 after day one (par 71).

Playing in the final group it was a real see-saw battle with fellow-competitor Paul Schlachter shooting a 30 on the front nine and then Sully making birdie on #10, 11, 13, 16 and 17 to go to the 18th tee with a 3 shot lead and to win by two at 6 under 136 (69-67).

At the end of the awards ceremony I asked JESII if he minded if I put his nice win today on GOLFLCUBALTAS.com and he seemed to think about it for a moment and then said he didn't mind. As I was walking away he said but only if I gave Mark Fine some crap about something. Unfortunately, I didn't exactly hear what I was supposed to give Mark Fine crap for---but, Mark Fine, I hereby am giving you some crap from JESII for something.

Let's give a hearty round of applause to Jim Sullivan Jr's for his nice win today at the Pennsylvania State Mid-Amateur Championship!

Congrats Jim,

That trophy case in the Mens' Locker Room at HVCC is getting awfully cluttered with stuff.  ;)

Great news about Jim (even if he is giving me some crap)  ;D
It must have been all that practice on the C nine at HV  ;)

Mark,

Probably, Gil Hanse has done some work on the greens on the C-Nine.

At this point, I think I should add a few tid-bits that GOLFCLUBATLERS might eat up.

JESII played the tourney yesterday and today with a little teeny "stripped set" looking bag slung over his shoulder. Those things look to me like they have room for maybe 14 clubs, maybe not, about six golf balls, at most, and maybe a half sqeezed-out tube of toothpaste, at best. I didn't even see that he was checking a pin sheet (no caddie) or anything like that. He plays fast, he putts fast and doesn't seem to do much other than hit it, march on out there and hit it again, putt it pretty quick, and go on.

To me it looked like a pretty young guy playing golf the old fashioned simple way and gettin' it done!  ;)

Way to go Sully!

And TEP, you need to pay attention more at outings.  I have that exact same type of bag and use it most rounds (I sure had it at Sand Hills), as do many other stalwarts here.  It is GREAT for when you know you are walking....

To keep his mind occupied and mitigate the nerves, he probably spent the whole time thinking about #2 on the C nine and how to improve it  ;D

I"m shocked, surprised and stunned, we really have a contributor that can actually play the game? Congrats JES11 I knew you had it in you.

I'll listen to you with renewed interest.

Jason,

By the comments here, I can conclude that young man on the right is Sully. However, who is that really ancient dude on the left? Did someone prop Mucci up from out of his wheel chair to take a picture with our champion?

That's Ben Crenshaw on the left.  He really needs a haircut.

Well done Jim!

Ben Crenshaw is nowhere near that old.

Bob,

This isn't the only trophy with Sully's name on it. I believe he won the Philly Open back in 1999.
