Aerial of the Day #227 (and 228) - 18 Oct 2002

Here's an anticlimactic end to the week.  Nothing
earthshattering today.


If you don't know this course, turn in your password.... ;D

I have to admit, the actual individual holes do look pretty boring.




#2 today is a true stumper.  A clue is that this is the first
AOTD from this state.  Another clue is that while this is not
the most well-known course from this state (that one's aerial
was unusable, as you could hardly make out anything.), it
does have a certain distinction few courses can claim.

Umm...

Might the first one look a bit more "squiggly" in recent months from the air?  It's certainly clear from this older photo that the site was in no way reestricted.

given the location of #1. I too
had to look at it several
times before I got it!  Oh man,
very sad.

as would a Twins outfielder.

Huck,

Yes, Ms. Spelling, Mr. Hunter.  Also a certain Rams WR (who
went to college in my 'hood).



#2 was designed by a guy who partly earns his living
restoring what he formerly was maligned for.

#2 is very tough (even "elite" tough) on high handicappers
(narrow with lots of forced carries).

#2 isn't far from big, green, and smart athletes.

I figured out who Clayton Moore was by your clue, not by knowing it outright.


Might #2 have a popular mass-produced food fish in those
ponds?  (Wrong type of water, I know.  Poetic license.)


Are Patrick Ewing and Allen Iverson favorites in the town of #1?  

Speaking of Doyen Paul's lookalike on another thread, didn't
he have his name on the tourney here way back when?

from the numerous fly-overs on the old Links and MS Golf
computer games ...

#2 is by a Ross restorer and Raynor copier.

John Irving and the "incestuous" clue are related.

Two prominent Josiah Bartlett's are from the area of #2.

150 is the elite number in question.

The aerial for #1 shows why I think the most interesting shot
on the course is from the seldom-used far left tee on the
par-3 16th (it's about halfway down the 15th fairway);
all carry across the canyon from around 185-195 yards.

If you look close enough you can see the nudists down on
the beach! :o

All right, forgive me if this
ruins this, but I just can't get
#2 so I'm gonna spell out what
we have.  Someone please tell
me where I went wrong here
or what I am missing.

It's in New Hampshire
It has a slope of 150+
It has something to do with Chez Panisse.

I have all of that and a list
of every golf course in the
New Hampshire Golf Association
and I still can't get it!

course #1... I used to live near
there and have played it MANY
times but I never got to play
that tee.  I saw it and you're right,
it's a WAY better hole from there...
