A Yale Smorgasbord for Historians
« on: September 06, 2006, 05:18:07 PM »
For almost two years, with the support of the Department of Athletics and the staff at the Yale Golf Course, we have been building an on-line archive of the 110-year history of golf at Yale. We have conducted many interviews and gathered documents, photographs, maps, publications, and newspaper articles about Yale golf and Yale golfers. It is a fascinating and rich history, but this also means that the task is long, and we are still in the process of collecting and assessing the material.

However, even as a work in progress, we want to share with you what is now available. The site can be reached at

http://research.yale.edu/wwkelly/Yale-golf/index.htm.

Most of the site is open to everyone and is accessible from any browser (IE Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, etc.). Please note, though, that the interviews are filed in the Real Media format and to hear them you must have the free Real Media plug-in. Also, for copyright protection purposes, the texts of actual documents and newspaper articles in the archives are available only to those who access the site from within the Yale network. If you cannot access and would like a copy of a particular article, please contact either of us and we will try to provide it to you.

This is a work in progress, and we are still adding to it frequently. We hope you will look at it periodically and we very much welcome your comments, suggestions, and contributions.

Enjoy the rest of the season.

Thanks for posting this, Mike!  It should be a fascinating resource to have, and follow through its progression.  Good luck!

That is a cool site.  Every club should have one.

Thanks Brad but given global warming I think it will be quite some time before hell freezes over  ;)  I think that's what it will take for Tom Becket (AD) to acknowledge certain contributions.
