Here's one that works.  The ninth at Lawsonia.  A flowing, uphill, 535 yd par 5 to conclude the front nine.  Like any blind hole has the issue of knowing when the group ahead is clear.

Tee is out of the photo to the right.  Landing zone for the drive is to the left of the grass fairway bunker.  Second shot is uphill to a blind green generally not reachable except for the very, very long hitter.  You can see the 150 post between the left and right bunkers near the top of the hill.  Green is sited in line with the two taller trees over the left hand edge of the right side bunker.  There is ample room over the hill for the second shot leaving a wedge to a large and undulating green.  The blindness and the flanking bunkers at the crest of the hill  make this hole work, otherwise it would be a pretty bland hole.  A very subtle hole making excellent use of the existing terrain, a terrific example of Langford's routing brillance and ability to lay a hole on the land on what is by no means the best hole on the course.

First hole in a sequence of six holes that goes 535353.  535,239,498,183,568,154.

The 10th at Engineers is a blind shot and the long knockers that challenge the bunkers on the inside of the dogleg (left side) off the tee can get home with a fairway wood.  It's imperative to have forecaddies on holes with blind shots.

This hole works very well as it makes you really commit, as do most/all blind shots.

6th at Black Creek in Chatanooga. Pays well because the landing area for the second is downhill all the way to the green, which is a "punchbowl," therefore collecting the ball.

The correct shot is to land the ball 30-40 yds short of the green, so at most your ball will run, not fly, into the group ahead. Since BC is a private club, I presume this is an expected occurance an no sensitivities are injured..

The 4th at Minikahda (Ross) features a large ridge that bisects the fairway (and also the fairway at the short par 4 5th).

It takes a large drive to get up the hill, and most mortals are left with a blind shot like this:

There's a similar but smaller ridge that bisects the par 5 2d at Minneapolis GC (also Ross). I really like that Ross chose to use the bisecting ridges on these holes.

Jerry,

This thread should begin and end with #4 at Bethpage Black-second shot over the Glacier bunker, big bunker in front of the green, no way to see the pin from anywhere on the fairway unless you're 300 yards from the green.

And Pebble Beach #6.  Even if you could see the green, you would be distracted by all the other glorious vistas.

3rd hole at Victoria National has a nasty blind shot on the par 5 3rd.  From memory if you dont hit 2 great shots your 3rd shot is blind over a hill
