What do you mean? I think you're going to have to explain your statement further. I understand what "jumping the shark" means--I'm not quite sure how you're relating it to those courses.

So much has happened this year that changes the face of golf as we used to know it...

Sebonack builds maintenance buildings in the back yard of the soul of the game...

Erin Hills changes how courses will be rated forever...Can't wait for the Golf Digest 100* Greatest..

Dismal River will lead to hit and run reviews of courses it takes a day to just get to..

Liberty National and Jersey by the Bay open up weekday golf to the super influence peddlers...

I could care less what effect Erin Hills has on ratings. I am very concerned that's it's 8200+ yards long. That may be jumping the shark.

I wonder why Erin Hills is so expensive..$150 plus $10 for a pull cart...It is just one of many unusual courses this year.

note: The rating comment is a response to Ward being so disgusted by EH not being eligible for the Digest lists...It may not even be true.

It can be stretched to 8200 yards. The back tees are listed at 7824 on the EH web site. It's "elastic" that way, to try to get a U.S. Open.

Just as The Ocean Course at Kiawah can be stretched to ~7900(?) but is only listed much lower.

Just to clarify my comment, the fact that Erin Hills or the Ocean Course can be stretched to 8000+ yards doesn't bother me per se--I won't be playing those courses from anywhere close to that yardage. But, it does bother me that people believe that courses have to be stretched that far in order to host important tournaments.

Not that I agree that Sand Hills is a hit and run course - seriously - who has actually done that - played Sand Hills just once in combination with others? - but wouldn't Bandon Dunes be a monogoplay destination?

There are three courses at Bandon...I think. Where do you think hit and run artists are going to stay when doing a Sand Hills/Dismal/Ballyneal outing. I doubt if they will stay one night at each...

note: Dismal has a mandatory stay policy for their members..

JK - so I guess Bandon doesn't count - it is a solo destination though for sure.

Re golf in the Sand Hills, man I can't see many doing one round hit and runs at any of those... but maybe some will. I have no clue what the policies are - my take is they are still pretty damn far apart - and of course I only know about Sand Hills but I can't see one round ever being "enough" at any of these... Just seems weird to me if anyone would do one and outs covering all three of these.

Haven't seen Clerks II, but I love me some Jason Mewes. For you basketball fans, put photos of Josh Boone and Mewes side-by-side and notice the resemblance.
