This thread is so long and so long standing that I can't even remember if I've responded....

In any case, there is no golf course in the world that I "need" to play.  There are a lot I would like to play, and few if any that I could not play (if I made my mind up to do so), but "need" to play?  No way.  Life is far too short and there are far too many other things to do as alternatives.

JES - come on, think in terms of the cutesy typos (tyops)....

Even I figured this one out.

 ;D

BTW, seeing this thread up again reminds me JakaB still owes me an apology for taking me to task for saying a course doesn't exist in the country, when what I actually said twice and spelled correctly was "county."  I don't do intentional typos.  And he does owe me an apology still.  Should I hold my breath?

 ;D ;D ;D

Don't hold it too long Huck, and thanks for the heads up on the tyop. Must still be a bit groggy.

Rihc,

I certainly hope nothing I could ever do would encourage you to say nothing, after all I still owe you a couple pints in the bar at your place and I hate to drink in silence.

I NEED to see heathlands golf, I'll select Sunningdale Old

I NEED to experience that sand down under, I've heard amazing things.  I'll pick Royal Melbourne West.

I NEED to play golf on kikuyu (sp?)...and a George Thomas course...Riviera...does that fit the bill?

I NEED to see the dramatic dunes in Ireland...RCD, Lahinch, Ballybunion CASHEN!!!???!!!

I NEED to see a mom and pop done right...Penny Branch

I NEED want to see all the courses Bobby Jones played while winning the Grand Slam...Merion, Interlachen, and Royal Liverpool I've yet to see.

I really, really want to tee it up at St. Enodoc...places looks perfect for my taste.

I NEED to play Prestwick.

I am dying to play Highlands Links and, why not check out, Cabot Links.

This agenda could take me 5 years...so I'll stop now!!   :)

Mac,

When we get out to Rivermont, I'll TELL you about PLAYING Sunningdale & St. Enodoc, RCD, Lahinch & Ballybunion, and Highlands and about how simply parking my car in the neighborhood and walking the perimeter of Merion for an hour was great fun! ;D  That might tide you over for a while!  This is a damn good list of great architecture though that we should all see in our lifetime.  It can be done!

Five I need to see:

PV
Crystal Downs
Fishers Island
Royal Melbourne
Morfontaine

Cheers

The course I would most like to see is Shinnecock.  I have played Muirfield In Scotland when I was just beginning to be interested in architecture and it was the first really great course played.   The description of the Muirfield of America has always stuck with me and hence the desire to see it.  However when you live in NZ the opportunity is just about nil.

Others I would like to see but virtually no chance-

NGLA
Pine Valley
Winged Foot

Others I would like to see and highly likely-

Lahinch
Ballybunion
Royal County Down
Sunningdale
St Georges Hill
