Two Years in St. Andrews
« on: June 07, 2006, 03:31:37 PM »
I just finished reading George Peper's book about his relocating to St. Andrews.  I highly recommend the book.  It was fun living vicariously through him and his life for two years.

I know there was an article in Links magazine a few years back about and individual that played I think 50 rounds in 30 days on the Old Course.  I thought there was a mention of this on GCA.com but I can't seem to find it via the search engine or via Linksmagazine.com.

I am kind of inspired to take a couple of weeks off and just set up camp in St. Andrews and try to play the course over and over again.

Steve,
Two years ago my wife and I rented the flat next to the Peper's.Good golf and great fun. The book describes a number of people I know quite well and was very enjoyable.St. Andrews with the local citizens is ten times as much fun. Read the book and enjoy.

When our golf team visited the R&A this past April Mr. Peper came and chatted with us and told some great stories.  He knew a couple of the parents of our students.  He told some great anecdotes about getting Bill Murray involved in the AT&T.  Good stuff.

My girlfriend just gave me a copy for my birthday.  I'll have to move it up in the reading list.

I'm planning on doing the same thing for a year, arriving this August.

A little birdie is whispering that the

St Andrew's, The Old Course Experience

by our own Rich Goodale is almost ready for shipping.

Guess we’ll have to make do with the other one for a week or two. ;)
Let's make GCA grate again!

Tony

That little birdie must have had laryngitis.  It's called:

"Experience the Old Course" ;)
