Trump Scotland....again!

Not sure if this has been posted, but I stumbled across it today.

Hopefully, this will not be in the "best site ruined" debate in 10 years....

I was watching the video clips off that site and I just can't get over what an idiot he is.  I don't wish harm on anyone but it won't be a sad day when that baffoon goes.

That being said, you have to be a clusterfuck to not put a World Top 40 on that land.

Well, with "Trump International Golf Links, Scotland," he's way, way up in the Top 40 World's Worst Golf Course Names.

I wonder what his mausoleum will look like.

Can someone explain to a dummy like me, how it makes sense to keep calling all the courses Trump this or Trump that. It is not like we are talking euchre here. How does this make sense if this character wants to have a recognized golf club? I can't keep them all straight, Trump this Trump East, Trump overseas. Why not name these courses for real? Are these courses a way for him to advertise is name or is he serious about building a great golf course?

Dan, in answer to your question, isn't it a shame "Trump Towers" is already taken?  :o

Then again, I understand he is enamored with Chairman Mao...  ;)

Branding his empire, Glenn.
Trump is on the Richard Branson trip, Virgin Airlines, Virgin Megastore, Virgin cola etc, and launches golf courses, hotels, real estate, water and other things that he wants you to associated him with.
In other words doing the E G O thing.

Yesterday I played golf with the Philadelphia Inquirer golf writer Joe Logan and the subject of Donald Trump (who Joe obviously knows) came up.

Joe's description of the way Trump looks to him had me in stitches.

Joe said everything about the man looks orange to him---eg his hair, his skin etc, etc. He said his entire aura is one of total artificiality. But he also said Tiger's wife looks so fair to him that he described her as looking completely transparent.  ;)

Actually Joe's pretty damn nutso himself. After semi-muffing a chip on #17 he said he was pretty sure he could be successful on the PGA Tour if he could just manage to shave a mere 18 shots off each of his rounds and then he ended up sinking a pretty nice putt on #17 and it took him about 90 seconds to get off the green because he was waving to and high-fiving with a goodly number of the hundreds and hundreds of fans surrounding the 17th green.

Eric,

I realize that. I just wonder why it has to be so in your face. How about the course name and then by Trump or something like that. It works for everything else, but for golf courses it has to be counterproductive at some point, doesn't it?

Not in Trumps world.
Remember, we are talking about a man who seriously thinks that these horrible fake waterfalls is a great architectural detail.

Well, sure, but the man will be dead by then -- and at rest in Trump Acres.

I still haven't thought of a proper name for his mausoleum there -- but it will be popularly known as "Trump's Last Erection."

WOW :o  This will be interesting to watch the transformation from linksland to golf course.  Hopefully Fazio, leaves some of the existing formations and features intact!!!  What a great little hazard that creek or the brick bunker would make!  There is some serious character there, and I hope Fazio does well to utilize it.  Like I said, this will be one interesting course to keep our eyes on and watch it progress!!

Glenn - What Trump is doing is strictly a marketing / advertising gig.  By putting his name on everything he is involved with, he adds credibility and this also adds to his iconic status.  Which we all know he enjoys!  In addition, people will want to see a Trump golf course just because of the name.  Us GCAers are a bit different, but others want to say, "Let's Trump Scotland, it must be impressive if it was done by Donald."  Trump is synonmis with spending money, and people are drawn to that. Trump is simply using his name because it is one of the most recognizable in the world.

Thats why Tiger named his foundation the Tiger Woods Foundation, because then people don't have to guess which foundation, or course, Trump Scotland in this case, is his.  Same thing with Michael Jordan Cologne, or Polo "Ralph Lauren."  Names sell!!!  It adds immediate interest and validity.

Subject: Object To The European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre

OBJECT TO THE EUROPEAN OFFSHORE WIND DEPLOYMENT CENTRE

Dear Friends
In response to yesterday’s announcement by Vattenfall (the developer of the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre proposed just a mile and a half from Aberdeen’s coastline) - where they stated their project is widely supported, we urge you to submit your objection to Martine Scotland (details below).

The countless e-mails, letters, site visits and calls we’ve received tell us that many of you are seriously concerned, like ourselves, at the negative visual impact these colossal turbines will have on our beautiful coastline and the future growth of the region’s leisure and tourism industry.

We would therefore be most grateful if you could take a few moments of your time to ensure this project is rejected and another site found for this ugly development – one that does not have a detrimental impact on Scotland’s coastline and golf tourism in particular.  Please find attached a copy of our formal objection for your reference, and a template response below to help you to express your concern about this ill-sited project.

Thank you for your time.

Yours faithfully,

The Trump executive team
