Of course one ought to treat the concept of "par" as he sees fit - there is no right or wrong here. BUT... would you agree that if one is concerned with his best chance at success on any given hole, any given course, it is best ignored? That is, play the hole as you deem to be wisests, not as what the number on the card demands. That's my point here, one I have very little doubt you will agree with.

If these "non-golfers" collect winnings in net tournaments against real golfers, then yes, something is rotten in Denmark. But outside of that, who cares what other people do on their own time, so long as they don't hold up play?
