Irvine Bogside and Dundonald

We will be playing both of these courses in June.  Anyone out there have thoughts on the merits or demerits of each?

I've never seen Irvine Bogside but that has to be one of the worst names I've heard for a golf course.

And don't you think it was pretty prescient of Lyle Anderson to steal "Dundonald" before Trump got to Scotland?

Irvine was used for final qualifying at the Troon Open. It’s a James Braid design I think with some original bunkering and some very good holes. Here are a few pics. I haven’t played Dundonald.

Friends who played Dundonald last year felt the greens were simply unplayable.  The caddies were never once able to provide a line to make a putt, only to avoid a three putt.

In what regard?

I loved Irvine. I thougt it had a great collection of short par 4s. Two of them are the 4th and 5th of Marc's photographs. Very nice members and a great little clubhouse and bar too.

Played Dundonald last October ...a course with teeth.

Steve, just repeating what I was told, and the comments related solely to the greens.  The slope present on what sounded like every green was so severe that those playing felt they had no chance to hole a putt of any length at any time.  They were hosted by a member of Loch Lomond and had played Royal Dornoch, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie during their trip.  Dundonald was the only disapointment.
