The new course at Wee-Ko-Pa
« on: April 19, 2006, 08:15:10 PM »
Does anyone have info on the C&C 18-hole layout at Wee-Ko-Pa ? I'm interested in any info on its opening and if there is any info on the holes there.

Many thanks ...

I stopped by WeKoPa during my recent visit to AZ but did not play there. I was told that the course is probably scheduled to open in Jan 2007. They did not have a routing plan or any materials to show me nor would they let me visit the site.

Besides Blackstone -- are there any other "new" courses you are aware of that have opened in the greater metro area of the Valley of the Sun ?

Thanks ...

There is a new course near Casa Grande at Robson Ranch, a 55+ community. The other new course is Ken Kavanuagh's Vista Verde adjacent to Tonto Verde which opened in January. If you like really firm concrete greens, you'll like Vista Verde. .

The next courses set to open in early 2007 in PHX area are WeKoPa#2 and the Schmidt-Curley Copper Canyon at Sun City Festival.

Coore's course at Wee-Ko-Pa is coming nicely. The construction manager worked with us at The Wigwam. I toured the routing and work to date a few weeks ago — it is going to be very special. I was surprised at how tight many of the holes were...but there were contrasting fairways which seem very wide. On the back there is an up-hill par-4 which is reachable to a very narrow and small green. It is a neat risk-reward of tremendous value. I am going to guess that Bill has scored another great project on a fantastic site. I was told it would open in December.
