I have been playing ProV 1x for several years, but I bought some of the Nike Power Distance Super Soft balls for our Sheep Ranch outing this winter.  While the outing was severely shortened by the 60 mph wind and heavy rain, (we hit drivers into the wind on the 135 yard peninsula green--stuck it close!), I very much enjoyed the balls and intend to buy a dozen when my ProV's run out...

Anyone notice how the ProV1 is a better distance ball than the ProV1x, with only a 90 and 110 mph swing? Anyone want to bet that the ProV1x would change to the better distance ball if a 120 mph swing was introduced?

I've used Precepts, HP2 Tour's, NXT Tour's, V1's, V1x's. I tend to use NXT's because most greens are never so hard I feel the need to play a softer ball.
By chance a club pro gave me a 2-pack of Pinnacle Exception's. I began bouncing one off my LW, and though...hmmm...these are soft. The hard "click" wasn't there of the Pinnacle's of the past. Unlike old 2-piece balls, they don't balloon as they did in the past.
I told my buddy that I couldn't tell the difference between the NXT Tour and the Exception on full shots...both had a penetrating flight. Both behaved the same around the greens. Including putting. Distance was the same; no changes in clubbing.
Even if you don't use them in the summer, they're great when conditions get cooler and soft.
