Mark,

I think it's a terrific golf course.

But, like many it could be more aggressive with the tree management program.

I think one of the problems that many Banks and classic courses face is that their architecture has been leap frogged by hi-tech.

I've got to run, but, I'll try to get back to you on this tomorrow.

Mark, HCC is a very well maintained course.  As Pat says, it is a very good course.  The 12th hole is a very good Redan.  The par 3's are very good.  The greens are varied and interesting. I would be interested in Pat's comments on the routing.  Some holes appear to be similiar to others.  For example, 1 and 10 are parallel par 5's in the same direction with the similiar elevation.

Mark,

Wish I could, but I've never set foot there. Good luck ;)

Mark:

Hackensack is a fine Banks course but more towards the rear of what he designed. I believe Forsgate and Essex County are a good beyond what you see with the layout in Oradell.

The land at Hackensack is also fairly ordinary and until most recently choked with too many trees that have shielded necessary light from the property.

Banks did a solid effort there but th eutter detailing and complexity of his work can be better appreciated with other designs as I have mentioned along with such other courses as Whipporwill and even The Knoll in Jersey which could be stellar once George B finishes his work there.

If you want to see more unique design elements in Bergen County go to Ridgewood, Alpine and Knickerbocker, to name some other alternatives.

I believe that Rees Jones remodeled this course in the mid 90's
