I always thought that the membership at Agusta never worried about the outside public. We haev seen that they follow their own rules and do not fall into pressure from the outside. example: letting a woman member in.
We keep seeing changes to the course, and this year is by far the most vocal the players have been about it. Turning a great course (possibly the best in the world) into a course where even the BEST players in the world are not in love with it.
That being said, how do the members feel about these changes? There is no chance, there are more then 5 members there that can hit as far as the PGA tour guys, or as consistant as them. If the tour players think it is to hard and to long now, what do the members think? If I were a member i would be livid! why chance my PRIVATE course, to suit the needs to the PGA tour player? and it goes beyond suiting the needs to of the PGA tour player since they dont even like it now. If Fred Funk is saying he has not shot at winning this year, then what memeber there can play the course from the tips? they certainly are not even close to the level Mr. funk is. Yet, they changed the course for the public. I simply dont understand this, am I missing something? They wont fold under pressure to let a woman in, they believe that the course is bigger then the Masters itself, yet they just ruined a perfect course because they are worried about the Pros coming in and shooting decent scores. YET, the scores have really never got that much better in how many years? the reason the course is just so good is because length will not beat that course, yet some people there think it has.
I am going off here,,,,my main question is what do the members think of this? If the pros cant do it, and dont like it, why would the members? Their not half the players the pros are, so shooting in the 90's and 100's is fine with them when they play the rest of the year?
