I have seen industry stats that show most rounds of golf are played based on convenience.

 Jeff,

Did they discuss  private versus public golf? That is an interesting stat. One of my best golfing buddies drives 1/2 hr. or more to play several public courses rather than two within 15 minutes nearby.

Convenience (full family amenities, practical reality)

Congestion (better not be impossible to get a Sat. a.m. tee time)

Cachet/Cost (often go hand-in-hand, and can include Course/Creator, Clubhouse, Cuisine)

Carry/ Cart - (I love to walk)

Competition & Camaraderie (I just assumed these are a given when joining a Club; I was very wrong.  But in my case I lucked out.)
