Beaumont Country Club

Beaumont Country Club reopened last fall after Baxter redesigned the course, with my assistance.  Unfortunately Rita hit the area extremely hard, putting off our plans to host a 30th parallel gathering.  There is a little new work to do - Baxter is adding some strategy where additional trees fell.

Baxter just recently sent me some pictures that I wanted to share.

Here is the old 6th - par 4 - 375 yards.  The green was 5000 sft (one of the bigger ones), with a bunker left and bunker right - typical for the course.

Here is the new 6th 385 yards with a new back tee.  The new green is 4700 sft without green side bunkers and with a devilish drop off area to the right center of the green.  The fairway had a natural roll where the cross bunkers were laid out.  The right side of the fairway was expanded to create a layup area short of the new fairway bunkers.  The right fall off from the green dictates the stratgey - if you flirt with the bunkers you have a safer approach from the right side.  If you stay left, you are more likely to catch the slope.  My first round on the new hole, I hit my approach a little safe just off the left side of the green, then promptly chipped into the right green swale area and rolled off the the other side.

In describing the value of an aerial and survey I looked for these old images, and forgot to post some additional holes...

12th old

13th old - note engineered berm

12th & 13th new - no engineered berm in background - green was built up to elevation of berm - very cool!!
Thinking of Bob, Rihc, Bill, George, Neil, Dr. Childs, & Tiger.

Nice work Baxter and Mike,

What specific damage did Rita cause on the course?  Anything of note or just clean up?

Nice work, Mike. Your redesign on 13 really changes the playing options for that hole. How far off the tee is the first bunker on the right?
Next!

What a tremendous transformation - at least as far as I can tell from the pictures.  Did you reno all the holes?  Great job guys!
