Jason,

Yes, and it's also an Audubon Sanctuary. But I can't believe you forgot to mention that the clubhouse offers an atmosphere of understated, casual elegance. This is an outrage.  ;)

Shocking from a Faldo design. Is he an IMG client?

One recent visitor had just played there. The day before he played DF and his next round was here at Pinon. His comment was that between PH and Wildfire, 99 out of 100 rounds goes to Pinon.

Jason,

I decided to try to figure out some of the courses you had taken these descriptions from so I took one phrase from there that looked unique and went to Google.  I took the phrase "prodigious 7,100 yards" which quickly identified the course in question.  The interesting thing was that 9 sites that list or review golf courses took the exact phrase and used it in their description.  The plagerism involved is minimal, but it definitely makes me take their recommendations or descriptions with a large grain of salt. ;)

I actually like the two courses on this list that I have played.  I just wanted to communicate what I hear when I see this description which is repeated constantly.

I apologize for accidentally leaving in the name of the Faldo course.  I deleted it but I actually do like that course very much.

"Championship Course". Are there any courses that aren't?

I don't know about course descriptions, but the land description that always rings alarm bells for me is 'Wetlands'.

My experience with courses that are described as a 'wetlands' course, is:
- It was the worst piece of land in the area that not even housing devolopers would touch.
- There are no natural holes because 90% of the land was originally under water
- The courses needs 2 days to dry out after the smallest shower of rain.
- The large hotel near the 1st tee guarantees the course is always full of people who play golf less than 5 times a year, yet believe they are Tiger Woods.
