Best short par three

 :D ;) 8)

Looking for opinions on the best really short par threes in existence. Has to be 110 yards or less, and whether you like them in concept.

#12 at Somerset Hills (a little more than 110) and #10 at PVCC come to mind quickly.

Don't forgot the West Side shortie at Merion. Pine Valley #10 is wayyyyyy toooooo longgggggg!  Also #11 Hidden Creek is almost short enough.

Remember, I was hoping we would comment on whether it was something you might want to do rather than have to do.

I've always loved the short "Quarry/Punchbowl" par 3, 8th hole at Manufacturer's, as well as the 4th at Gulph Mills.

I am partial to the 7th at Pebble and the 13th at Merion.

That's the one!  I've always liked the cozy feel of that hole.  I'm not sure, but I'd venture to guess that those Pine trees behind the green won't be around long if Forse & Nagle continue their plan there.

Likewise,

I took a series of photos of the hole walking from the 7th green to the tee... I love how it peeks from behind the cliff on 7, and when you get up on the tee, it lays there before you.

Now to Mayday Malone those pine trees behind the green...  :P

I am with Jack on this one, The Postage Stamp is tough to beat.  In fact, I would reco Troon just to play #8 and experience the ferocious back nine.  These closing holes offer some idea of how difficult it is to make pars with the Open on the line.

And, staying in Phila.  how about #5 at Aronimink.  There can be some interesting putts on that green when the pin is on either the back-left shelf or right-front.

Also, I'd vote for #8 at Olympic (Lake) especially with the tree/shrub/brush clearing behind the green.

#3 at Spyglass Hill, elevated tee, tiny green surrounded by sand and iceplant. Can play into the Ocean breezes. Also I think it is #8 at Lake Chabot in Oakland hills. About a 70 foot drop off. The ball seems to take forever to get to the green and leaves the largest ball marks I have ever seen. #3 at Torrey Pines South has to have the best view. All great short par 3's.

#6 at the Va-Jo-Wa Golf Course in Island Falls, Maine.

This course is about two hours north of Bangor, in the hilly area near the NE corner of Baxter St. Park.

The hole is about 105 over two marshes (ladies tee in between at the 60 yd. mark) to a green that is very small, L-shaped, with the top of the L pointing at you, and the bottom going off to the left.  The right side is crowned and about 15 ft wide at its middle, and the back left is convex, severely sloped, and perhaps 20 ft. x 25 ft.  The only bailout is right, where you will find the tee box for the next hole.  Chips from this side will not hold the green.  Short there is marsh and a bunker fronting the back-left portion, long is more marsh, and left is deep woods, about 10 ft from the left side of the green.  Needless to say, its an exacting shot.....if you can hit the green, you usually have a short putt, although never a gimmie.  

The other thing to keep in mind on this hole is the nature of the ladies tee being in between the two marshes.  If you dont make it over the marsh, you have a fun 60-yarder with no spin to this impossible green over more wetlands.....can't say I've never had that shot.  :)
