Pinehurst (resort) has eight courses. Desert Mountain (private) has six courses. The St. Andrews Links Trust (public) has five-and-a-half courses. What other facilities out there which are run by a single entity have this much golf to offer? And do such large facilities work, both from the financial and the golfing perspective? (One might think that these sorts of facilities would be unwieldy, needing multiple clubhouses/changing rooms and possibly practice facilities to work, and yet I can also see how a facility like Pinehurst - where the quality of golf is drastically uneven - thrives on its ability to get golfers to play every course and "complete the set" even if there's only one marquee attraction.)
Cheers,
