Drinking the Kool-Aid

What is wrong with these people on BSG?  I have never seen such blind devotion since that Waco nightmare.  I mean these guys are fighting to line up to kiss someone's ass:

BSG is a great site with a bunch of very knowledgeable people/members/posters. I'm a BSG guy and really enjoy the site . . .

How about we just let them be, and stick to GCA over here. There really isn't any need for these kinds of posts . . .

Ted,

Seriously, while the style of the original post may be inflamatory, the comparison is relevant. If I was a architect, I would be more interested in the opinions of BSG than GCA. BSG are better players, play more public courses which is the bulk of development today, and probably have no biases towards architecture.

They don't really care about architecture, but they seem to be truthful.  If I walk into a business meeting in NYC, I don't think about the architecture usually. However, if the architect asked me a question, I would tell him. When Geoffrey and I played with a few Bombsquad guys at Yale, clearly they did not like blind holes or "tricked up" greens. It is easy to take a shot at them, but they and not us may be the future of golf architecture!

Steve

That BSG thread seems to have disappeared so I don't know what it was about.  They seem to moderate discussions with a lot less tolerance then we do here on GCA and I think that's a good thing.

You don't think we have our over the top advocates here on GCA?  ::)

BSG is a good site for equipment and for those interested in actually playing the game in as it currently exists. Those I have corresponded with and met are first class individuals.  Its silly to be judgemental of those who are into Fujikura tour only shafts as much as some here are of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw.

I'm with Ted and Mike - BSG is as good in its forum as GCA is in its little place in the golf world.

PS- Mike I don't recall Andrew or Geoff not liking any green at Yale and in fact were amazed at #9.  The blind nature of #'s 3 and 18 are another story :)

I would echo what Geoffrey said.  I played with a bunch up at Cog Hill (dubsdred) this weekend.  Nice guys and some really good golfers.  Monsterously long - On a day when some of my drives backed up due to wet fairway conditions, one guy, and a do not exagerate (someone lazered it) hit his drive 330 on the last hole.  A number of  mid 70's from the blues (6900) and great guys to have pizza and beer with afterwords.  Not a lot of discussion about the design merits, but many said they liked Cog Hill.  I think the common sentiment was all strong holes, without any "junk" holes.

Anyway, my two cents.
