Kyle's post reminded me to post a link about the Amateur here in Nebraska at Omaha Country Club. This is the Centennial Amateur in Nebraska and on Monday the Nebraska Golf Association sponsored a Hickory Golf outing at the Field Club of Omaha (site of the 1941 US Amateur).
Play at Omaha CC started yesterday with only one player breaking par of 71. OCC is only 6,460 yards but can obviously still hold its own. While OCC was founded in the late 1800s the current course was built in 1927 by Langford and Moreau and the greens were rebuilt by Perry Maxwell. Tillinghast was also rumored to make a visit in the 1930 as well.
Hey, I know Nebraska isn't a golf hot bed but I thought some of you may want to know about something other than Sand Hills, Wild Horse and Firethorn that had some "classical" elements!

If you are wondering the Nebraska Amateur is at stroke play (72 holes with low 36 and ties making the final two rounds) and we have a separate Match Play tournament that was contested at Wild Horse this year.
A link to OCC's aerial and routing is here:
