Seriously, suppose golf really did come to the Olympics in 2012, how would you start planning?

How far will people be driving then?
How far will they hit an 8-iron?
How will the nature of golf have changed?
Who is it for?

If you were a London Olympic administrator charged with establishing a suitable golf facility to host the games and then to be a positive contribution to the region and, in particular, to make a long-term contribution to the regeneration of east London, what would be the main essentials of your document inviting golf architects/developers to tender for the job?

I suppose Athens should be ecstatic that they got the Games before somebody tried to make them build a golf course.  Let's just say that golf becomes an Olympic sport (which I do not support because I'm not married to a Tanzanian).  How many coutries that want to host the games would have problems because they do not have an Olympic-caliber course and really no interest in having one ala Athens?
