Played Metro (Sandbelt Melbourne for non Aussies!) the other day.   It was in it's usual wonderful condition despite it being winter.   When I got to the 13th (a former great Par 3 of approx 173 metres/190 yards!), I meet a much reduced length of 135 metres/148 yards.   It appears too many balls have headed south over the fence into ajoining properties. (the USA is not the only Land of Litigation! ).   It appears a redesign is slated for the near future.   By chance we saw Mike Clayton looking at various aspects of the course on the other nine.   Any comments/views on what should happen/or is proposed as they could potentially affect 12/14/15/16 as well.

Build a bigger fence! How hard is that?

I recall that hole fondly from the time I played there, as I had a bunker edge directly between my ball and the hole - while the ball was on the back of the putting green, after my tee shot.

According to my course guide, Michael Clayton once made a hole in one there to help him win the Victoria Open, so you'd hope he'd not want to mess with the green!

Whatever they do, I'd pray that they don't lose the deep bunkers that cut into the green.

We were heading to the 13th when you saw us.
It has got to the point where the neighbours finally tired of balls on the roof and they have to move the hole.

As hard as it is to believe,they have still been hitting balls over the fence from the forward tee.
In 30 years playing there I have seen one ball go over the fence - but there is no disputing the rubbish bins full of golf balls!

If it was the 15th at Kingston Heath I think everyone would go for a fence but no one wants one and 13 isn't that great a hole - very good but probably no more.
I did make a one there in a tournament - playing with Lee Trevino - and made $20,000 which was a fortune then.
No one wants to mess with the green - least of all,me - but that is the preferred solution.

Hopefully we can do a decent job with the new hole.
There are some suggestions for 12 and 14 but it's up to the members.I think they could  both be improved.
