Kyle:

Those commercials are all good - ONCE.  Maybe twice.  Maybe three times.  I too like them.

But dammit, by the time the Open is over, one likely has seen them 500 times, and then one combines that with the last US Open or other USGA event he has viewed, and well....

I am ready to hunt down and personally maim that blind guy.  And the little kid with the ace is gonna get a boot in the face.

PLEASE tell me there are some new ones for this year....

Yeah, you're right, they do overuse them all during the couse of the event. But, the first time around every year is nice.

I'm just hoping they run that one of Sergio poolside flicking the little paper ball 500 times. :)

Hands down my favorite thing about the US Open - really, all of the majors - is that it gets all the big guns together and usually several end up in the fight at the end.

Second favorite is the courses they utilize. It's the best way for this landlocked Pittsburgher going to see Shinnecock, Pebble, #2, Winged Foot, etc.
Big drivers and hot balls are the product of golf course design that rewards the hit one far then hit one high strategy.  Shinny showed everyone how to take care of this whole technology dilemma. - Pat Brockwell, 6/24/04

There are two new ones this year.

I really like the "I swing like a girl- can you?" piece. (Disclaimer- I have two daughters.) It's not new but makes a great point.

These pieces are wonderfully filmed and produced.

"Hope and fear, hope and Fear, that's what people see when they play golf. Not me. I only see happiness."

" Two things I beleive in: good shoes and a good car. Alligator shoes and a Cadillac."

I too have a daughter - she already thinks golf is a dorky thing that dad does and wants little part of it - I shall make a point of having her see the "I swing like a girl" version.  But heck, all she'll need to do is wander in the room as I'm watching and odds are she'll see it.  They do MERCILESSLY play these things.

Thus I am happy there are two new ones - do not ruin them for me - I might survive the 500 playings I'll see over the weekend without going nuts.

BTW, I agree they are well done.  It's just the REPETITION that kills me.

I think the Golf Channel does a really good job around all four of the majors. "Before, during, and after" as they like to tell us.

Advertisements with David Feherty wear on me. I really like his work in print but he's a little to much for the TV. I haven't seen any of this coverage but I'm sure it's chock full of erectile dysfunction. Even more annoying then Feherty is the woman from the Levitra ad.

I have yet to see it this year but my favorite is the one shot at Sleepy Hollow CC in NY. It shows off their great 16th hole overlooking the Hudson river.

As an official who had a qualifier for 15 players today that took 9 hours to complete due to heavy downpours, I really related to that commercial today while we were in suspension.  :o
