Does anyone happen to know…
« on: June 16, 2005, 06:06:00 AM »
.....the secret of golf by any chance?

Ok so I’d be better off asking what the meaning of life, the universe and everything was, but there must be some great single tips or thoughts that people have come to rely on.

If so……please share so we can all hit it where the architects want us to.

Yes, I do.

Don't aim there. And, whatever you do, don't expect anything. Be aware.

Don't hit scared
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Cary, that’s a good one. Would you like to elaborate, i.e. how?

I've found much success in hitting the ball in the hole in as little shots as practical.

Step 1 -Make a fearless swing with a precise target in mind.

Step 2 - If the ball does not end up in the hole repeat step 1.

Hey Philip. Any chance of sneaking a camera in and posting a few pics. It'll be as close as I'll ever get to seeing Queenwood.

Committment. You have to make a 100% committed swing each time. Anytime you wonder "is this the right club" or something to that effect, you're toast. Your mind is a powerful tool.

I recall a story about a famous Billiards player nearly a century ago, having his first game of golf (of the era of Walter Lindrum, can't recall if it was he - I'll assume it was Walter for the purpose of the story).  He got on the green, about 35 feet awayTh conversation went something like this:

"Now, try and get the ball near the hole"

Walter putts up to about 18 inches away. 'What now'

"Now, putt it in the hole"

'Why didn't you tell me to do that with my last shot?'

That is one of the secrets of golf! :)

Get the ball all the way to the hole whenever possible.
