I like Rye also.  Both for the "wry" and the whisky connotations.

I also really like all the weird names in Maine.  We've discussed those before.

As for my Sheep Ranch that god help the golf world if it ever comes to fruition... I have no Costanzan fears when I divulge to the world that it will be known as "Stupidly Designed GC."

I have always wanted to incorprate the word "Downs" in a course name.....Like Crystal Downs!

It seems like almost any name sounds good with "Downs" attached.

Crystal Downs is tough to beat but in the Northeast I always liked Fiddler's Elbow.

How about Settingdown Creek outside of Atlanta. The only thing better than the name are the miniature rocking chairs used for tee markers.

Great golf course, great logo.  The name is even a little bit better than you have it here because there is no "g" in it.  (Settindown Creek, adds some southern flavor)  The only negative is that the creek that runs through the front nine isn't called that.  Kind of weird, but a lot more catchy than Mill Creek or Little River, which are the two local creeks.

Courses named after clubs are always cool.  And my favorite is:

The Jockey Club. (aka Jockey Club Golf).

What a great name for a golf course.

Also, any spanish town name with "Club de Golf" is pretty cool in my mind:

Of course the name is important but what courses are called by locals is as interesting.  In the DC area "The Point" (Hains Point) and "The Congo" (Congressional) are as common as the given names.  

It is also a rare golfer that has played "The Point" and "The Congo" in the same year...or ever.
