Paul - what do you want to know?

Here's their web site:

http://www.whitneyoaksgolf.com/

It's a Johnny Miller course, one of many in the greater Bay Area that's silly hard... in fact this one was so over the top severe when it first opened that they had to come in not to soon thereafter and re-do it, soften it.  Apparently it's not that bad now.  I never have played it but Gib and a few others here have.  It's supposed to be OK at best - not quite as reviled as other courses under the Miller name around here, but not exactly beloved either.

Tom

Thank you.  That's the type of info I was looking for.

Would love for Gib to chime in too.

Paul!

From one Chicago area GCAer to another:

Skip Whitney Oaks if you are in Sac. Even in it's "softened state" it is still a convoluted architectural mess!

Not too far away is Dark Horse Golf Club, a superb Keith Foster effort. Also nearby is Kyle Phillips's Morgan Creek.

Both are light years better than Whitney "Jokes" !!!!

I grew up in No. Calif and go back there on business frequently so I 've played a lot of the courses in the Sac area.

Trust me on this one!

Morgan Creek is one kick ass golf course if you like English Heathland type courses.  Its only negative is the cheesy housing.  Unfortunaitly the people of Sacramento don't know what they have and the course hasn't done well financially.  IMHO its the best course in Sacramento.
