Let's define this list a little more. SI is full of it. Help me get it right - I'll take a shot but I'm sure I'll forget something.

1.Crenshaw
2.Weiskopf
3.Nicklaus
4. Jerry Pate
5.John Fought (?)
6.Tom Watson
7.Davis Love III (and getting better)
8.Greg Norman
9.Graham Marsh
10.Peter Thompson (Is he still around?)

Others:Jacobsen, McCumber, Els, Price, Lehman, Koch, Irwin, Trevino,
Kite, Palmer, Player, Cook, David Graham, Bruce Devlin

Mark,
I guess you'd have to include Faldo on that list.

I don't know the extent of his design contributions but Bob Tway was involved with Lee Singletary on the construction of Bobcat Trail in North Port Fla..
I played it a couple of times and it one of the more interesting golf courses down that way.

BTW, I have this straight from the horses mouth.  Davis Love is only ahead of Charlie Rhymer on this list, because due to a freak act of nature and the golf gods, Charlie has to spot Davis 5 holes aside in head-to-head competition!!!  Or was that shots a side,  oh nevermind... ::) ;D

Forrest Feazler is definitely making a major contribution and I guess Faldo is, although the articles in LINKS mag. are actually written by Nick Edmumd, a Scot.

I question whether some of these deserve the title of architect. I doubt Lehman does anything other than deposit the check. Maybe a couple of the others as well.

Actually, John, Tom Lehman is apparently quite active. He's working on a course near Toronto with Tom McBroom and McBroom says he's been surprised by the number of times Lehman has visited the site and the amount of time he's spent on the project.

Here's hoping that after the roll back Corey Pavin get's a chance to show us all how golf should be played on his designs.

Mark,

It's Peter THOMSON.

Regardless, I don't think you'll find any Australian who thinks, mainly because of his work in the past few years on some terrific sites, that Thommo is anything other than a third-rate hack.

Mr. McK.,

It is just a little inside joke for those of us that had the pleasure of hearing Charlie's after dinner reflections on his career and life on the tour, when we gathered at Cusco last November.
