My favorite is a photo of Hogan and Palmer standing on the second tee at Augusta National. Most of you have seen the photo. What makes mine special to me is that it is autographed by BOTH.

The prize possession is the 1951 game bat my father-in-law used in the All Star game in Detroit.  He was lead-off hitter for the winning National League and went 2-4, had 2 stolen bases and scored 2 runs His leaping grab robbed Vic Wertz of a homerun to dead centerfield. They didn't have game MVP back then, but it was a heck of a game he played and its a heck of a beautiful bat.

Wayne --

I thought you and others might enjoy learning of a site I found today --  called The Oracle of Baseball (http://www.baseball-reference.com/oracle/), by which one can find the direct links between any two players in baseball history.

Just for fun, choosing a couple of players more or less randomly, I checked on Richie Ashburn and Ty Cobb. Here's what I learned:

Richie Ashburn   played with   Andy Seminick   for the 1956 Philadelphia Phillies

Andy Seminick   played with   Jimmie Foxx   for the 1945 Philadelphia Phillies

Jimmie Foxx   played with   Ty Cobb   for the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics.

Also learned this:

Oracle of Baseball - Player Connectedness

Connectedness for Richie Ashburn

# steps         # players
0                    1
1                  254
2                4295
3                5283
4                4470
5                1504
6                 399
7                    3

Average: 3.239

1 step indicates they were teammates, 2 steps means they had a common teammate, etc. The "Average" is the average teammates needed to get from this player to every other player in MLB history.

This is all an offshot of the Oracle of Bacon (http://oracleofbacon.org/), which any movie buffs here will enjoy. Your (possibly impossible) mission there, should you choose to accept it, is to find an actor or actress with a Bacon Factor higher than 3.

The MacKenzie drawing of St. Andrews, a drawing of Carnoustie, and a print of an aerial taken of the Lido just before the course was closed.

I just got my hands on two slightly different drawings from the 20s of Pinehurst 1-4 which I'll be framing shortly. I'll bet one is the same as Tom MacWood's.

The only golf related stuff hanging on my walls is blown-up photo I took of the 15th at Cypress Point, with the 16th in the background. I'm still a little surprised the photo turned out so beautifully; I was in awe, and my hands were trembling! I walked that stretch of 14 Mile Dr., as my wife and brother waited patiently in the car  :).

I have a poster for the 1983 US Open showing the approach to the ninth green at Oakmont.

(I was born in April 1983 and we lived in Oakmont at the time...)

My parents bought a lot of the posters and what not when the Open was there in June. I also have a layout of the course from the local newspaper on my corkboard.

Steve,

That's one helluva hole to ace...

All photos I have taken, Banff's Cauldron, Road hole, the ninth at Turnberry and 18th at Pac Dunes. I rotate my photos frequently enough, but the Road hole stays up. I cannot wait to get the shot Scaletti took of six at Royal Melbourne and a Mike Miller painting of something obscure, which I have yet to find.

"BTW, I've never had any Suavignon Blanc in my life, and I hope I never do. Maybe that's what your problem is!"

That wasn't meant to be a judgement on your drinking habits or taste...Sauvignon Blanc is known to smell like cat urine.   :P

There is a lot of very cool stuff out there. I need to get some Thompson and Colt affects on the wall...and Alison, Flynn, Simpson, Tillinghast, Strong, Travis...

I've also got the famous picture of MacKenzie in his kilt and the photo of Thomas, Billy Bell and MacKenzie....but there not on the wall yet.

And in the baseball theme - I have an old photo of The Babe and the Ironman together.

You just had to ask....I have been accused of cultivating a museum of sorts:

As far as golf goes:

Personally taken framed photos of:
13th hole and clubhouse at Newport CC
17th at Merion
9th at Highland Links, Truro, MA

Old Course map, comissioned by the Links Trust (with the numbers corresponding to the bunker depths)
Tedesco Country Club Centennial Pin Flag
Pennant of 2005 US Open @ Pinehurst
Tin Sign of Great Triumvirate for Geoffrey's Gentlemans' Apparel
Picture of Hogan in downswing
2 Team Pictures from Middlebury's NESCAC winning golf teams
A pastel drawing of my follow-through by my girlfriend, truly one of my greatest possessions.

The rest of my room is dominated by Red Sox memorbilia (2004 World Series Champs Pennant!!!), and the obligatory thousands of architecture books, scorecards, old golf magazines and extra golf clubs looking to be picked up off the waiver wire.

My office has 2 golf related items scattered amongst tons of music and sports memorabilia

1) I received  a christmas present a couple of years ago from a Merion member -It is a beautiful one of kind custom framed  piece that contains a flag from Merion with some inset photos of holes 11 and 16. Very tasteful.

2) In a case that one would normally use to display a football or basketball is a hat from Brookline(squirrel logo). It was used to break the Red Sox curse last year. I wore it to game 7 at Yankee Stadium . The connection - I figured that the closest course to  Fenway is Brookline - where  2 of greatest upsets / comebacks in golf history took place  - Francis Ouimet in the 1913 Open and the US  comeback at the Ryder Cup in 1999.Had nothing to lose.
In the 2nd inning of game 7, I said to my friends who are Yankees fans-it is time for Damon to do something in the series - rubbed the logo and he hit the next pitch off Vasquez for a grand slam. The rest is history. Wore it for the entire St. Louis series. The hat was then retired. A friend inscribed a plate on the case that reads:
2004 World Series -The Peoples MVP -"The Squirrel.

I assume it isn't a Merion Hole Flag.  Unless the wicker baskets have been dispensed with, or you have a framed wicker basket (that would be really cool).  #11 hole photo is an excellent choice
