Oh boy Tony, I sure hope you come out there.  We are up to 15 shows of hands now.  We will run this about another week, then I'll talk to Mark and see what weekend is best, and give you all the numbers to commit your deposits.

Tony, do you miss NHL hockey as much as I do?  At least we can follow our Bulldogs and Badgers.  Maybe that is a more pure substitute anyway.  Should be an exciting WCHA tournament this year.

:) RJ! Good to hear from you... Do I miss NHL hockey? Well, I think that this is the first year in a long time that I actually looked forward to the AHL All-Star game ;D

Fortunately, while I was back in MN for the holidays, I caught the Mariucci Classic and a couple of the World Juniors in ND, which was some FUN hockey!!! And, the WCHA is a TOUGH conference as always, which always makes for some outstanding hockey come playoff time! If only I could find a regional station in AZ that carried college hockey... And, NO, ASU club hockey doesn't count!

Really hope that I can make it for the get-together at Sutton Bay. Guess it depends on the timeframe. I'm busy with tournaments at Desert Mountain until May 10th, so hopefully it will be sometime after that...

Keep me in the loop! Looking forward to meeting all of you design gurus in the near future!!!

We are up to about 16 interested, so far.

I am told that the two weekends that are available to us are April29-May1 or May 6-8.

If you continue to be interested, work off of those two dates, and recontact me on IM to pick which one you are most likely to make.  I am aware that May 8 is Mother's Day.  If you are still considering this, I will keep bringing it to the top for another week or so, then pick the weekend you all pick as most desirable, and get the ball rolling with Sutton Bays Director, Mark.

Mother's Day weekend...d'oh!!!!!!!!  :o

This is the first year (in the 6 we've been in Dubuque) that Jill does NOT have to go to the Loras graduation on Mother's Day...I'm locked into a "real" Mother's Day this year.  ???

E - it's times like this you really settle which generation we all are... for guys like you and me (with little kids), is there ANY day of the year that is more non-golfable than Mother's Day?  I seriously think the hierarchy of no way in freakin' hell I can play goes:

Mother's Day
Christmas (for me anyway - GREAT day for warm-weather dwelling non-Christians to play golf)  ;)
Wife's birthday
Little league opening day

This little fact impacted the planning of THE KING'S PUTTER, oh yes it did....

That looks about right, except of course for the Xmas thingy in my house...white stuff on ther ground dictates that one for me.

Wife's birthday is a touchy one for me...I've spent several of hers (in previous years) sitting at the Indy 500, so precendent has somewhat been set in the past (her bday is May 28th)...but missing that day in today's context with kids and such is still a no-no, I agree.

E - that's why I put in "warm-weather dwelling" non-Christians.   ;)

I have a few friends who absolutely love playing on December 25 - very easy to get a tee time!

And you hit on a great thing re precedents. Such do help.  Oh, the battle still is waged... but this little help is a good thing.

:( Too Bad... Won't be able to make either dates as we are in the middle of the ladies and men's member-guests at Desert Mountain until May 7th...  However, the second weekend of May would be perfect ;D Hopefully, I can wrangle my way into the Fall trip with D. Kelly and his crew... Thanks again for the invitation, and thanks to Mark for making a trip possible!!!

Well, we have about half the folks not wanting to get tied into Sutton Bay travel over Mother's Day weekend, which was May 6-8.  So that leaves us April 29,30,May 1.

So I'm putting out the call on the weekend of friday April 29, sat., April 30, and Sunday May 1.

Whose in?  I'll start listing the names and updating them.

In case you hadn't heard (for you rating junkies out there) SB debutted the top 100 modern list at 13.  I predict that isn't its last move upward...

One last thing to consider for you guys that worry about South Dakota weather, it is predicted to be 66* this Sunday, and they have had several 50s days already.  That isn't to say it won't snow our weekend.  But, I'm going to stay positive.  I remember a couple of years ago, opening day about May 15 at S.H. was 99*, ask Cirba!!!! :o ;D

Dick et al.

It is hard to believe the weather we have had and are having right now.  As you said, it is supposed to be in the 60's for the next 3-4 days.  Hard to say what the weather will be like on the last weekend of April, could be almost anything.  I can guarantee all of you that we will have a good time no matter what the weather is like and all of us at Sutton Bay are looking forward to having anyone who can make it.  Golf, food, drink, good friends, new friends, bantering, etc, hard to beat a weekend like this.

Jason, upon letting this run about another week to get all the confirms in, we will ask Mark to set it as a firm date.  Yes, it is only going to be Ap 29-30May1 or nothing.  Mother's day was too objectionable to most respondents.

I will get together with Mark to get final details of how to register, deposit, and which days you will want to play golf within 2 more weeks and post it.

All aboard... ;D

Tentatively count me as a maybe in...gotta check the dates with my current work travel schedule, and how to coordinate the over-the-road travel for a long-drive short weekend.

Unfortunately my wife informs me that I've got a wedding in Orlando on 4/30 so I'm going to have to pass on what sounds to be a spectacular weekend. :-[

Please take and post many photos!

Sounds like we have some dates identified.  If there are people who want to come a day or two early or stay a day or two longer around that weekend it is no problem.  I do not expect a large number of members or guests during this time which should allow for freedom to roam and get a number of holes played.  I look forward to meeting all of you.

Add me to the 25% group. It depends on my tax return. My cheapest airport is Rapid City so I'd circle route to Hawktree and Red Mike.

Peter,

I'd advise getting in a round at Red Rock right there in Rapid City, where you'll be flying in.  It looks to be quite good, and Matt Ward gives it a thumbs up (whatever that means to you ;D).  He might even like it better than Red Mike and/or Hawktree, I don't know.  Matt?

It's listed as GW's top public course in SD.  BTW, you might want to catch Bully Pulpit (Hurdzan & Fry, pictures previously posted), too, in Medora, ND, on the way to Red Mike.  It also has the Matt Ward thumbs up.

Scott,
Don't do this to me. Bully Pulpit is added. I'm just trying to figure out when I should fly.
RJD,
Do we have any loose itinerary for Friday?
