World Woods, Florida - Update
« on: February 13, 2005, 08:52:10 PM »
We were told by a local that we played with that World Woods received their approvals for an on-site lodge. The housing that the developers wanted was turned down.

Great facilility as is, but it is tough to get to, so I would think this would be a positive ?

I am having trouble parsing this sentence.

Yes, getting to WW is quite easy from Tampa, but I'm pretty sure Mike was coming from Orlando, a very popular vacation destination, as I hope you should know....

Getting around that section of Florida is not that difficult, but as has been noted, with the new super-highway, getting to WW is made much easier now, from Tampa.

Intersting developement Mike, Thanks for the update.

I wonder how this will affect "the Dunes Golfer's Club"?

Last I heard, the former Dunes Club at Seville, was jammed packed full of golfer's, yet there were unkept  large weeds on the greens. Go figure!

Sorry, but access from Tampa airport is moronically easy. Tampa is from where you access World Woods if you fly to FL.

The drive from Tampa to WW is over an hour on the toll road, easy and direct, YES, convenient, close, near-by, NO ...

Having played WW Pine Barrens this past Saturday....

I liked the atmosphere at the entrance, clubhouse and arrival area. If they proceed with more structures, I hope they are mostly out of sight.

The putting green is a great place to settle carry overs, and also can eat up a lot of time playing money games. It would be cool to have a similar adventure near the lodging.

The course played great that day, with firm conditions throughout along with smooth greens. Burned in striping on fairways if one were to actually like that kind of thing.

On-site lodging would decrease available tee times. Double-edged sword, I suppose. On-site lodging in my opinion will increase the cost per round. All-in-all impact will be negative except for the profits of the owners.

Rman,

I would disagree. What could be wrong with flying into Tampa in the morning, playing all day, have dinner there, grab some beers and have a putting contest with The Boys as the sun goes down on the putting course, and then waking up for 18 on Pine Barrens @ 7:30 AM. Our hotel was 20 miles away.

Joe,

Dan Taylor and I were there the same day.

Scott,

My kids were Barney, Dan and Pete B up in Orlando. ;)

Mr Moore,

Don't worry, Spring will soon be coming to Maine.... in June!;)
