The unknown Mackenzie and Ross collaboration

I was amused to learn that the Ailsa course at Turnberry was the "combined effort of Alister MacKenzie , Donald Ross and nature..." . I found this enlightening quote  ::) in Fairways and Greens 8/04. I guess the writer hadn't heard of Mackenzie Ross and assumed it was the two big dogs.
"Perimeter-weighted fairways", The best euphemism for containment mounding I've ever heard.

Perhaps Phillip MacKenzie Ross, himself, was the result of an unholy collaboration.

Of course, there is one legitimate Mackenzie/Ross course -- St. Charles in Winnipeg. That the two architects were never there at the same time shouldn't stand in the way of a good story....
