Pat Mucci:

Mike D. was brought into the Pilgrim's Run project after the course had been routed by the superintendent, and a number of friends of the primary investor had divided up holes to design.

However, Mike sorta grabbed some control of the project at that point, and made the very most out of what could have become a wasted opportunity. Although he inherited the routing and some ideas from others, Pilgrim's Run is Mike's golf course for the most part.

And it's an excellent course, too, featuring some very attractive bunkers and some really interesting green complexes that definitely weren't designed by "armchair architects". Trust me.

Nice one, on the Rod Whitman plug  ;D

Is the par 3 course designed by David Kidd?

Curious,

Jeff,
From what I've seen of the property and the topo maps it will be very difficult to match what is in the ground and being built. It will be very time consuming and detail. From the short time I had with Rod at Blackhawk, he would be a good fit if Mike Keiser was looking for a continuation of the style of golf courses he is producing.
Didn't ask who is building the par three course.

Yes, the par 3 course is being designed by David Kidd.  I was told that it's supposed to emulate 3 par-3's from each of the Bandon Courses.

Peter:

This isn't a "sales pitch"... but, one thing about Rod is, he's willing to spend everyday on site trying to get the details right.

If nothing else, he has that going for him  ;D

Mike Devries, has a great skill of designing holes with remarkable character.

Steve Smyers, very good strategic mind who deseves to work at a great site

Gil  Hanse, great imagination along with senstivity to both history and the essence of natural routing.

Clearly a beauty contest with many lovely maidens to choose from.

Having played the Kingsley Club, which is an unbelievable golfing experience, Mike DeVries has my vote. However, if Mr. Kaiser wants a Lidoesque tribute, I know of one man, and one man only, whose involvement would be essential: George Bahto.

The lead-up to Coore & Crenshaw's hiring was very exciting. This should be as well. Do we have a time frame for the architect decision at Bandon number four?  ???
